No matter your opinion of Martz, you have to admit he carried himself very well during this interview. His thoughts on Hester made me happy. Really couldn't have done much more to improve his initial public perception with Chicago imo

during the season he said the bears had no wide receivers. during the interview he said they could be a strength of the team. at least he knows how to lie.

...and so begins the annual off-season ritual of fans of every team in the NFL that all the problems of the past are gone and that this season could be "surprising".

I don't think that's a bad thing to attempt to kid yourself into some optimism. Makes the off season more enjoyable.

Although me saying that someone had a good interview doesn't mean that I believe all the problems or gone. I believe that the person being interviewed will be the cause of an entirely new set of problems.

He still equated himself well though

It has to be that Martz hopes to improve the offense to the point where he will be at the head of the line when the Lovie era comes to a crashing end in about eleven months.

Just listened to it. He came off just as I would expect. He is an intelligent man and he played it just the way you want coming into this situation. And hey he is a Cubs fan!

Meanwhile, it is status quo on the Defensive side of the ball with no coaching changes. Hoping that Urlacher can return to form isn't enough. I hope Martz gets the Offense going because the Bears will need to score 30 points each game to have a chance to win.
Then again, this years Super Bowl featured two of the worst Defenses to ever play in a Super Bowl, so who knows...anything can happen.

So will Hester be taking a pay cut or is his contract full of so many wr performance escalators that he will not reach that it won't matter?

Going to listen to the interview later, but did they mention Torry Holt? Sounds like a perfect situation for both parties involved.....

no, but he couldn't have answered anyway since he hasn't been released yet.

Well... looks like it's going to be an interesting year. Changing the focus of what Hester does is going against the company line of what that kid is supposed to be.

I'm excited to watch the fireworks. The Bears will probably be mediocre at best, but the off the field stuff will be epic...

Also liked that he said a Tight End who couldn't block in his system may as well line up as a WR.

Welcome back, Desmond Clark.
