once again, the list of the 3,000 Blackhawk fans who "Used to go" and "have had season tickets for years" comes out on the M&H show.

I remain the only newcomer to the sport

What morons.....Either you can get in NOW, or you can't.

Who gives a fuck if somebody watched Terry Ruskowski from the Second Balcony.

NO ONE CARES......

Did ya hear Les's show last night? Plenty of meatballery there too.

There was some caller from Virginia who is a Flyers fan talkin' all kinds of trash who won "Bum of the Week".

Yes; it pained my colon to listen to that.

More and more, Les starts to sound a little too much like 'Rusty from Stickney' for his own good.

Worst bandwagon fans ever. Need a nickname for them, like the 2004 Red Sox "pink hat" fans.

You mean that when a team becomes good there are bandwagon fans? Surely I thought this only happened to the Cubs, Sox, and Bulls. Never to hockey...

Compare the attendance figures for Flyers vs the Blackhawks over the last 40 years. Both teams have been in long Stanley Cup droughts, but the Flyers fans never abandoned their team. That's the difference.

Hussra, you should have never admitted to NOT being from here.

It was better when I thought you were just a pissed off skeptical Chicago fan.

To not attribute the Loss in support to the loss of Home games on Tv is well:

I don't know my Blackhawks history to 10th decimal because, yer right, I'm not a Blackhawks fan. But it sounds like some of the previous posters in this thread don't know much about the Blackhawks history either. AFAIK, Old Man Wirtz never let home games be broadcast locally (but road games were). So it wasn't a change. While attendance did ping-pong up and down with the success of the team. Go back and look at the 90's attendance figures, the home-games-blacked-out-locally Blackhawks were among the tops in the league in attendance, out-drawing even the Red Wings the Wings Stanley Cup seasons back then. Home games blacked-out and yet the United Center was packed all season, wut-wut, what? Image

Fwiw, other NHL cities didn't (and still don't, tho it's less so) get every home game or even road game broadcast locally either, sell-out or no. The NHL has always been tricky to find on TV. And, honestly, pre-HDTV, I can understand why. It was and is much better live. But HD leapfrogged NHL over the NBA and MLB in terms of watching a sport on TV, only the NFL is better to watch on TV nowadays.

Philly fans have had a number of blackout games this season--including playoff games--not due to lack of attendance, just goofy NHL broadcasting policies and contracts.

Not a bandwagon jumper.I still don't give a shit about the Hawks...maybe if they win it all,I'll buy a cap. I used to be a huge hockey fan as a kid, nowadays I don't know who is who. Too many teams & long European names to remember.

Hossa, Kane, Sharp, Ladd, Eager, Burish...Bolland...Blackhawks are, what, 90% North American and the Euros names (Hossa) are not that difficult. The trickiest name is a guy from Minnesota, Byfuglien.

Not sayin' "don't be a fan" but, like Big Fan, embrace your bandwagon fan status; but don't blame you personally not attending any NHL games for a decade or decades on the lack of local TV coverage of home Blackhawk games.
If you're a hockey fan, you're a hockey fan. If you're a new hockey fan, congratulations, you've just discovered a new-to-you and fun way to spend many upcoming Fall, Winter and, if you're lucky, Spring nights.
