How is it they are allowed to play that sound drop every morning as they sign off, about Aaron Rodgers being implicated in a murder?

That has to be slander. It's one thing when a reporter misspeaks (in this case he was supposed to say Aaron Hernandez), and I'm sure the error was corrected at the time. But this drop is being played intentionally, every morning, and is not being corrected.

I would love to see this pursued. Must it be the actual party being slandered that can sue? If so, should I start by contacting the Packers organization?

Make sure to mention in the lawsuit that it's a 1.5 Hanley joke.

Very famous case, in all legal textbooks:

In Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, 485 U.S. 46 (1988), the Supreme Court ruled that a parody advertisement claiming Jerry Falwell had engaged in an incestuous act with his mother in an outhouse, while false, could not allow Falwell to win damages for emotional distress because the statement was so obviously ridiculous that it was clearly not true; an allegation believed by nobody, it was ruled, brought no liability upon the author. The court thus overturned a lower court's upholding of an award where the jury had decided against the claim of libel but had awarded damages for emotional distress.
