It's February why not!
Mac, I posed a question to Les Grobstein (see Brush with fame thread) and Les was kind enough to give his insight on why the Late-nite chair does not have his ass in it.
I was a big fan of Les when he did his shows because I was a 3 and 4th shift guy and he made the nights go by quick and he has some talent and his show clicks with a lot sports fans .
For the life of me I can not understand why there is not local Over-nite guy here on Chicago Sports radio.
Why is that and why does Les seem to be black-balled by both stations?
Radio (and TV) is all business, and numbers and profits are the bottom line. There are people awake listening at 2am, but not enough of them. Advertisers don't directly to have commercials aired overnights. Since there isn't a high volume of listeners at that time, there isn't demand to have ads on either. Therefore, since radio stations aren't making money during the overnights, why pay someone to host when syndicated programming is a lot cheaper.
It sucks... but that is the reason why the Score went to Fox Sports Overnight and Sporting News Radio.
