Now Harry's gonna say "Ya know, that was Jerome Walton's number. He won rookie of the year in 89 and drank a beer with me. Pie should try another number."

Is that why he changed it? I know that's why Harry was bitching about. I remember some back up 1st baseman wearing 17 for the Cubs when Grace left. He was on the team last year or the year before. It shouldn't be retired so somebody should be able to wear it.

The jersey sales people are loving it. I'll bet a couple thousand Cubs fans ordered #17 Pie Jersey's. They're screwed. I don't think you can return those. I could be wrong though.

I saw a guy at last Tuesday's game wearing a Garciaparra jersey.
