JD is bringing his enthusiasm today about the Final Four. I for one, love it. I greatly appreciate his interest in college hoops and his reports have been pretty solid. But I have to take issue with something he just said because Mac and Jurko did not. He said Memphis is not a good matchup for UCLA, because "UCLA did not face any athletic teams like Memphis in the Pac Ten." Huh? Since when does one's opponents or conference affiliation determine a team's capabilities? Just because UCLA hasn't faced many athletic teams in Memphis' class doesn't mean they can't match up with one.

So let's use JD's logic and turn it around: Memphis didn't play against any strong defenses in Conference USA. So does that mean Memphis can't play against good defenses?

This is the kind of JD logic that puzzles me sometimes. A team can't match up with an opponent because they haven't had the opportunity to prove it all year?

Yes they are, Rick. Not only is his premise flawed but his facts underlying his premise are wrong also. Arizona and Oregon were pretty athletic too. Not in Memphis' class, but other than Carolina, who is?

Nah. By Tuesday, Memphis will have beaten UCLA and won the title and it would look pretty silly. I do think Memphis will beat UCLA, but not because of who they have played during the season.

Memphis looked like the best team last week, so you have that going for you, which is nice. Most media analysts and fans are influenced most by what they saw in the last game or two. So the Memphis love is not a surprise. He's not the only one.

I put a hun-do down on Drake to the elite 8 yesterday. Liv'in the TI-VO life could come back to haunt me but I like the Bulldogs gunners because....well..."they can shoot".

Terry, is that you cackling??

When Roy Hibbert becomes a decent NBA player.

I see your point but let's not lose the fact that he did a great job of reporting and highlighting each team. Good call by MJH for extending the Dickerson time on Friday and a reporting job well done by Dickerson.

I agree dolphin. I picked at one thing, but as I said above, his reports were solid and it was great that MJH devoted so much time to college hoops by having four hits on Friday. That was really a great way to do it...a breakdown on each team. Big shoutout to JD and MJH. I'll look forward to his take on Monday.

Agreed - good posting. I didn't hear all of his reports, but the two I did hear were very good. Like you, I'm surprised that MJH bothered to put that much time into it. Hopefully, they spend some time on Monday wrapping up the weekend, and previewing the championship.
