If you are still listening to this show, you must have liked the shows that were produced at times Mac was on vacation or suspended. I never cared for them. I thought they were awful and never could get halfway throught them, before putting a CD on, or another radio station. I will not give this show a chance. I have a very good idea of what it will be like and I'm not interested. I wish Jurko and Harry the best of luck, because I like them as guys, but not so much as radio hosts lacking Mac's lead.

Translation: Elmhurst Steve doesn't like Carm. ;)

Why didn't you listen to Cubs games when Mac was suspended? You had a whole month in '07.

When Cub games are on, thats always what I'm tuned into. But your translation is a bit off Beef. I don't especially like Carmen, but I don't dislike him either. He's just okay. The problem I have with the current equation, is Dan McNeil is not part of it. He made that show. Of the remaining guys Jurko is the best and most knowledgeable guy, but he's not capable of driving the show. Harry is a guy who jumps in with a fact, a joke, or an opinion, but he isn't a guy that can steer either. Carmen isn't good enough to fill the spot left by Mac. That's the bottom line. He's okay for a weekend spot on talking Baseball or a pre/post football spot, or even a late night weekday show. But he's not a ready for prime time guy. Probably never will be IMO.
As the saying goes, you never know what you've got till it's gone. ESPN AM1000, is going to realize what they lost after the next few ratings books come out. Call me a Dan McNeil ass licking society member if you must, but I'm just stating my true opinions. You think guys are replaceable and they are. But sometimes the replacement is a far cry from the previous individual. This would be one of those times.

Carmen is bland and uninteresting.

The other day he claimed there was no good music in the 80s, like he had any idea what he was talking about.

I think you mean Rover. Carm isn't that bad, but he's an awful fit right now. Blow this up, move Waddle and Silvy to afternoons and start fresh 9-noon with Haugh, Dickerson, H. Griffith or some other combination. The show was painful this afternoon.

I don't mean that Carmen is bad. I mean that he is in a no win situation.

Harry is like the bosses brother-in-law. A douche bag that you will never be able to get rid of.

He's untouchable. And he's probably not that expensive.

Ok I love jurko as much as anyone...he makes me laugh out loud pretty regularly and I can understand the Harry hatred but to say Jurk is more "knowledgeable" than harry is just inaccurate.

He provides the ex player perspective but Harry is more knowledgable in every other sport and probably is close to jurk even in football

just my 1 cent (in this economy 1 cent is all i can give out)

Judging from Steve's posts, doesn't take any thought to post here either.

I listen to the games while working. The only time I am not tuned into a game is if I'm at the game, watching on TV rather than listening on the radio or on vacation. Sometimes I will have to interface with clients and I will miss a bit of the game, but it cannot be helped. But I always keep business as the first priority. There is no wasted company time involved though. No problem doing the work, with Ron and Pat making the calls....By the way, only about 4 weeks till pitchers and catchers report. Can't wait!

I tried B&B again and quickly pressed the button. Bernsy was roughing up a caller who, was put on the spot by Bernsy, and couldn't name 10 players that the Cubs organization made a 'mistake' on. Bernsy put the caller on the spot then (B&) Berates him for not having answers at the tip of his tongue.

I certainly understand Cub fans (and callers) metality. Some callers are better than others with opinions and thoughts granted.... but the aggressive tactics Bernsy seems to enjoy (Their must have been SOMETHING to make you have this thought! WHAT WAS IT!!) are over the top.

Afternoon saloon will take some time. Harry doesn't bother me as much as some of you. Yea he's cheesy at times but we've known this for eight years now. Mac knew Harry's personality (and over the top fandom) very well and played it into the show with deft precision. Not sure if Carm can repeat...

These tactics have got to stop on Band B! This inhumanity to callers is beyond words! How dare these 2 thugs rough up innocent callers?! Their sadomasochistic behavior cannot not be tolerated! We're starting a new era and it must extend to the airwaves? Are we animals? Lo, it is incumbent upon us to put this madness to an end!

Train wreck is the only was I can describe the programming that is coming through my radio from 2-6.

I have no problem with Carm but it just doesn't work.

We have all heard Carm drive the show & while adequate not anything special.

Maybe it will get better but am not hopeful.

Its a shame the decision makers are usually the most clueless people in organ-I-zation.

If money was the reason, how about getting rid of the giant piece of man boob Chris Berman.
I am sure he was banking a hell of lot more then $600 K
You could pay Mac & have enough left over to end world hunger.

Don't get my started on Harry.
He should thank his lucky stars that Mac salvaged him from the scrap heep & carried him for 7 years. (No easy task)
If it wasn't for Mac, Harry would be talking cooking tips with Cathy Butler on some obscure station.

Come back soon Danny Mac- we miss you!!!!

Almost.

I'm going to agree with Grid.

I tried to enjoy to B&B, I really want to enjoy them. But they strike me as morons and I can't handle their conceit.

But the afternoon Saloon is just as bad. Their "attempts" to give Carm advice was just plain bad radio. I'm hoping it will get better but I'm not going suffer through while they figure it out. I'll check in now and again but not daily. Thankfully there is still Waddle and Silvey!! I don't like national radio for sports. I just don't.
