My STUPID thought on the Cubs is and I know they have to talk about them, but the Cubs motto for this year should be "Who Cares", it doesn't matter what we do, if we don't win in Ocotber. I think that is how they should play the season, should get the division, but it won't matter if they get swept in the first round again.
Winning back to back division titles for the first time in 100 years is significant. Having the BEST record in the league, with 97 wins matters. With each trip to the postseason, the Cubs increase the chances of accomplishing their goal, of a world series championship. You can't get one of those without first getting to the post-season. That makes the accomplishment vital and your "thought" stupid.
Those NL Central champs t-shirts will keep you Cub fans warm. Having the best record in the league and/or winning multiple division titles does not increase a team's chances of winning the WS. Obviously a team must be in the playoffs to win the WS, but how many times did the Braves win the NL East? What, 11 times? With 1 title? It's not like the Cubs are a young team (like the Rays maybe) with a bright future. The window for this team is getting smaller and smaller. These regular season wins might matter to you, but no one outside this city gives two shits. Go ahead and run the division. We'll enjoy watching your (laughable) lovable losers win as many postseason games as the Washington Nationals.
And don't pull the Cardinals 83-win WS team card. Like a Cubs team winning the WS in any fashion would matter to you? Get a real argument.
