Jerry plays it very cool as if nothing matters, but in reality it all matters. He manages things he should have zero business in like the PA guys at the bulls game and the music/volume that is played. Once again, most respected business guy around, but I would not let him plan a dinner out with 4 of my best friends or Tracy McGrady for example.
BACKSTORY
Carm/Silvy have Jerry on for some Sox questions (I think) and it was around the time they let some Bulls coach go, or something like that. Whatever happened, they were told not to ask about something in the interview (Even though he doesn't care...lol) and they asked. Reinsdorf responded with a "You will never get a bite of this apple again" referring to the fact he will never speak to them again or maybe even the radio station.
Reinsdorf got what he wanted out of it. Silvy running across the moat to the kingdom to apologize and kiss the ring.
Feel free to chime in where I made my mistakes
You are forgetting a key component. The Sox were negotiating radio rights at the time. ESPN1000 held the existing right but it did not appear that they wanted to even bid on an extension. This incensed old Jerry, as he likes nothing more in this world than to negotiate, and it is tough to do this with only one bidder. He was looking to somehow get back at ESPN1000 and he found himself a couple of patsies.
He went into that interview looking for a public reason to be angry with ESPN1000. He could then change the story from ESPN1000 rejecting him to him rejecting ESPN1000.
