My sources say that Beardown has to pay for any female companionship he has ever had.
That's just the word on the street, according to me.

No way Morgan voted for Santo.

It is riduculous that more 69 Cubs are in the HOF than Big Red Machine guys.

Uh. Yeah. They were better. By the way I don't think voters consider how many people they put in from a non World Series team. I mean people say that but I don' think it's true.

By the way the 87-92 Cubs could have 3 HOFers. Defidently two. I know they went to the playoffs in 89 but those were some horrible teams outside that year.

If Morgan is going to continue to use the claim that it's OK to not vote ANYONE in because they writers didn't vote them in the first time, then Bruce is absolutely correct. The committees entire purpose is to vote in guys the writers missed the first time. If not making in the first time is "proof" they don't belong, then there is NO reason for the Vet Com to even exist.

Bruce was not sticking up for Santo, he was calling out the committee for voting in NO ONE. EVER.

Santo isn't being pushed because of his health problems. He is being pushed because, in the eyes of virtually every stat guy out there, he is the most deserving player not yet in the Hall. This isn't a Cubs thing, unless you guys consider Rob Neyer and Bill James Cubs fans.

You guys seem to be into analogies, so here is one that I think fits. 5 years ago I moved into a nice new subdivision, and I love it there. There is a lot of open space near it, and builders want to put more houses up. This would increase traffic and make living there more of a hassle. If you left it up to me and my neighbors, I am CERTAIN that we would not allow any more houses to be built, ONCE WE WERE IN. This is the equivalent to letting guys who make up a very elite group decide if anyone else belongs in. Of course their initial instinct will be to keep the group as small as possible. Once they are in.

I GET IT!!!!!!!

But that isn't what Morgan is saying. His response was that the writers didn't vote them in, so we must be doing something right.

Further, my point is in all probability they are NEVER going to think anybody that fell through "belongs".

You know, no one should listen to anything you have to say after associating yourself with the guy who stole the idea of a Flaming Homer.

No. Moran said that in response to Bruce saying players shouldn't vote. That the media has more smarts when it comes to who should get in. Well, the great writers didn't put Santo in when they had the chance.

Man, I can't beleive I'm defending Morgan. But once again he said he voted for Santo 3 times.

I wholeheartedly acknowledge this Beardown. I believe that that is what has happened. However, you need to acknowledge what a number of us have written though - that Morgan can't claim that his committee is relevant, but also that guys who have missed on 15 votes should not be voted in.

To me the issue at the core is the rather arbitrary 75% threshold.
If the members of the HOF feel that there is a real injustice, they should merely require a simple majority vote.

Just think how many politicians we would elect if there was a 75% requirement.

Yeah I said that earlier. 69% of this committee that everybody rips voted for Santo. I don't get how they arrived at 75%.

As a side note, these guys make a pretty convincing case for why Santo deserves to be in.
