I'm ignoring the salaries of the players on the first list because Berrian's not in their class. I'm also ignoring all players that are on their rookie contracts. That leaves only these guys for a comparison:

Total average salary for these players (excluding signing bonus but including other bonuses) is $2.63 million.
It's difficult to find a fair comparision to Berrian because some of the players are older or higher draft picks OR actually have a strong NFL resume behind them...but I think the two closest might be Donte Stallworth and Santana Moss. Each of these two players make about $1.9 million.
There's about 180 wide receivers in the NFL and Berrian ranks somewhere in the 40s. That all amounts to a replaceable player that doesn't deserve a big pay day.
