So...only on the topic of Mac-Butt-Kissery....I have observed that whenever Mac posts something, anything, it receives A LOT of responses. Everyone comes out of the woodwork to be Mac's "friend".

That's cool...I understand it. It is a compliment to mac as a real-everyday guy. That is not a butt kissing statement...just an observation.

Mac...post something about womens menstrual cycles and you'll get a hundred responses.

I think the tone would change if Bernstein posted, to be sure. I think that MJH probably gets criticised less than other shows because Mac posts on the board. That being said, MJH would be the most popular show on the board anyway, so the criticism will always be muted just because there isn't a whole lot of criticism in the first place.

I fall into the same group as Kid Cairo; I don't have anything against Mac personally, but I've never particularly enjoyed MJH, or any of his previous shows for that matter. I'm in the minority on that, and I don't listen to sports radio very much anymore since I'm in Champaign, so it's probably not imperative that Mac look for ways to capture the Irish Boy radios.

I have noticed one phenomenon, however, that I guess is inevitable. When the board is in high dudgeon, some people talk about how radio stations like The Score used to be oppositional against sports teams and now their too chummy to criticise effectively. There's probably some truth to that. But the purpose of existence of the board, ostensibly, is to criticise the sports radio shows in Chicago. Now I know that 90% of what goes on in the board has nothing to do with that. But still, when we get too chummy with one of the hosts, then we're probably not provided unfettered criticism in the same way.

I’d like to hear from Cubs/Sox hitting coach about the difference between the hitting styles in MLB vs. Japan.

What the roll of an advanced scout for C/S, who they are etc.

Preview the series with play-by-play or color guys for teams that C/S are about to face.

Down on the Farm- touch base with minor league C ( Ryne Sandberg,Pat Listach)/S (Richard Dotson, Tim Blackwell) affiliates managers/coaches to get idea of how players are doing or players we may see moved up. May or June start

Good Move-Bad Move segment where callers have a chance to interact with MJH on topical events of the day/week.

NFL Draft preview- Players, scouts and analyst. Maybe focus on interviewing players at the positions the Bears may select.

Bears Front office – How they may “bring back the past” like the Blackhawks, is it a good idea and something that they would do?

Have Jurko interview Yogi Berra once.

I would also be interested in some behind the scenes MJH. Where do the show content ideas come from other than the obvious daily topics?

I think if you went back through the threads, you would see a fair amount of criticism about M,J and H. Are the number of critical posts greater than or equal to the number of supportive posts? Probably not. But this board likely reflects the listening audience at large. A larger number of the listening public apparently prefers MJH over the alternative spread.

Some of us who don't like B&B don't even bother posting in their threads much any more. We made our points years ago. When I don't listen to the show, there's not a whole lot I should have to say about it. That's what makes the MJH opponents so amusing. They supposedly don't listen to the show, but they seem to have a great need to make their dislikes about it known. After their umpteenth time doing that, I think most here get it.

Hope I'm not lumped in with that group. My criticism is of the board, not the MJH show.

That actually works way better for North than MJH. I love how people will start threads in the North section bashing him, and in the same paragraph they will say how much his show sucks, then say they never listen to the show. If you call them on it, the reply will be their radio was "accidently" turned on the Score.

I don't think that was anything to get in a twist over. I actually thought the discussion about how people place value on their own work was one of the more interesting on this board in a while and thought hardly any of it was directed toward Mac. Most people, I thought, realized Mac was making a thinly veiled point.

Those that didn't are the usual suspects that just like to stir the pot and would have spewed venom if Mac had advocated a love-in for world peace.
