If you are still listening to this show, you must have liked the shows that were produced at times Mac was on vacation or suspended. I never cared for them. I thought they were awful and never could get halfway throught them, before putting a CD on, or another radio station. I will not give this show a chance. I have a very good idea of what it will be like and I'm not interested. I wish Jurko and Harry the best of luck, because I like them as guys, but not so much as radio hosts lacking Mac's lead.
Translation: Elmhurst Steve doesn't like Carm.
Why didn't you listen to Cubs games when Mac was suspended? You had a whole month in '07.
When Cub games are on, thats always what I'm tuned into. But your translation is a bit off Beef. I don't especially like Carmen, but I don't dislike him either. He's just okay. The problem I have with the current equation, is Dan McNeil is not part of it. He made that show. Of the remaining guys Jurko is the best and most knowledgeable guy, but he's not capable of driving the show. Harry is a guy who jumps in with a fact, a joke, or an opinion, but he isn't a guy that can steer either. Carmen isn't good enough to fill the spot left by Mac. That's the bottom line. He's okay for a weekend spot on talking Baseball or a pre/post football spot, or even a late night weekday show. But he's not a ready for prime time guy. Probably never will be IMO.
As the saying goes, you never know what you've got till it's gone. ESPN AM1000, is going to realize what they lost after the next few ratings books come out. Call me a Dan McNeil ass licking society member if you must, but I'm just stating my true opinions. You think guys are replaceable and they are. But sometimes the replacement is a far cry from the previous individual. This would be one of those times.
