He embaces his meatball. And he isn't ashamed of it.

He's a perfect sidekick.

Jurko earned my respect during the 2005 baseball season when, during a live remote from the Cell, declared that he didn't care about baseball anyway.

I'm just saddened by the news because I feel bad for Harry. At his age, it's not easy to find work.....well, not for the kind of money he's used to bringing in. Plus, it's got to be tough to be the one left behind, while the other two show members continue on. I wish they had allowed Harry to say goodbye. The show may be better after the restructuring. But I think they should have let Harry go in a bit more dignified manner. It's going to be interesting to see what Carmen and Jurko have to say about it today.

I bet Waddle and Silvy take the afternoon slot and Carmen and Jurko get bumped to the morning show.

Ok. The mourning period has gone on long enough.

It's time to take Harry's name off the Section Name.

Long live the Carmen and Juko ReVolution!

I'm patiently waiting for good dolphin's response to this. I don't think anyone on this board hated Harry more.

Hopefully this move signals an end to the John Cicco's menswear ad that features Harry 'singing.'

I actually find myself listening to 1000 more often lately in order to dodge the Hawkey talk. By more often I mean I tuned in for the first time in months for 5 minutes this past Wednesday, but as long as the hockey team keeps winning, I'm sure plenty of chances will present themselves.

Carmen is relatively horrible at his job. He does best when someone like Silvy drives the show and contributes 95% of the content/material. At this point there is little left they can do...they need to banish him too and hand it over to Jurko 100%.

...or pair him with Murph!

*ducks*

On a personal level I like Harry, and for that reason I'm sorry that he is out of a gig. On a professional level I found him a difficult listen. The first two years of MJH were listenable until it become an ongoing 2-on-1 situation in the booth. After the departure of Mac I found the show to be a difficult listen, few things are more unappealing than a funnyman who isn't funny, or worse, wants to get serious.

That said, his departure can hopefully be welcomed relief for the long suffering sports radio listeners in Chicago. The status quo has remained in place far too long. While I know many who prefer WMVP to WSCR, I'm often struck by the lack of depth in their sports discussion, which isn't to say that WSCR is mining new depths. Many of them choose MVP as a backlash choice.

Chicago sports radio listeners need and deserve better! Change at this point is good just to give listeners something new, hopefully the "really smart people" in Bristol and on State Street can come up with something that will give us reason to be appreciative.

Harry was bad at radio for a very long time. This can only make the afternoon show better...

Yesterday's thread title was "Fine Linea". End of the line.

It was right there for anyone who bothered to pay attention.

You're all welcome.

Did Mac & Speigs mention it yet?

During the last segment. Mac even said some good things about Harry, and semi-joked that there could be a role for him at 670, albeit more a sales-type PR thing and not as much an on-air thing. Mac basically said that one of the things Harry does better than most in the biz is schmooze clients.

He's seems like a relatively nice guy, but I don't get it either. His meatball, ex-jock shtick was funny for about 6 months, long long ago. His one note range got old for me quickly.

I find it ironic that listening to MVP a few days ago, the question on the mid-day show to Giangreco was "what four on-air personalities have been here since the beginning". Oops.

Jurko is great.

He knows his role and is funny as hell. Next question...

Jurko is entertaining. Harry was ok for a bit, but it was a tough listen w/o Mac. Like Cairo mentioned, I would love to see Harry paired w/ Mully & Hanley. They could call it "The Morning Wreck".

Harry will find something to do w/ his life. He knows a lot of people, so there's always some gig available for him. If anything his gregariousness will help him out w/ that.

Now it's time to put Silvy w/ Carmen @ Afternoon drive & move Jurko w/ Waddle ("The 2 Bears"?) in middays. Maybe pair those 2 w/ Hood.

ViVa La ReVolution!

Who drives the Jurko & Waddle show? Other than that, I've got no problem with this...

The big question is what does this do to the "Jurko vs Harry" game?

Harry was soul-crushingly awful.

Really? Worse than a Laurence Holmes or Mike Mulligan? That's hard to imagine.
