Harry is as solid as jello.

Harry's bits during Mac vacations are the very definition of self indulgent radio.

Not quite sure I follow the logic on your argument there. Have I sputtered? Yes. Have my suspensions hurt the show? Yes. The reality of the show's pecking order, however, is independent of those mistakes. While I value the input of all the guys who work on the show - and those who post here - the final decisions are mine. If you don't understand why I would have that right, perhaps somebody can give you a bit of history on who's done what over the past 20+ years.

First of all Mac, thanks for responding. I understand that you have the final say and since I have tuned you in since your days on Coppock, I know what you have done the past 20 years, my issue is that Harry seems to be everyones, including yours, whipping boy and I think its unfair.

I understand if you are there or not, the show must meet your standards, also the other fellow on the team, I just dont think its one guys fault, I think there is plenty of blame to share when a show sputters.

Thanks again for responding mac.

Harry has made himself the whipping boy... and he affirms that title every time he opens his mouth. The only thing unfair about it is the fact that the station has kept him on the radio.

I just don't understand the view of people who are truly indignant about Mac's suspensions. He didn't want to be suspended either - its done. Move on already.... :roll:

The difference is that if it's Mac's idea and it sucks, Mac will say it sucks....eventually. I thought you were go in the direction of contrasting Mac's ability to admit when something sucked with Harry's inability to the same.

IMHO, that's what makes Mac a regular guy. If something they do sucks, he has ZERO problem admitting it and moving on. It's the exact opposite of the B&B holier than thou approach . . . which I detest.

That's what I said....except for the B&B part

agreed 100%. People just like to tear other people down, even for small things that really dont end up meaning a whole lot in the big picture, to make themselves feel better. Sounds cliche but i think it is definitely true with some posters on this board. The latest suspension was just the bosses at ESPN trying to let Mac know who the boss was. I think we have all had bosses like that. The suspension a year ago I actually thought when they came back it made them better and even more likeable in my opinion. At least it showed they had a pulse unlike the corpses down the dial

I used to love MJH. I hardly listen to it anymore. The show's dynamic changed quite a bit after last summer's fight, but this summer's hiatus was probably the nail in the coffin, especially since B&B have cut out a lot of their dumb-caller shtick.

I wish Mac would demolish the thing and start fresh with some better talent (yeah, that's not his call, I know.) Harry's pretty goddamn insufferable--- and I used to defend him--- plus, on most days, Jurko is MVP's answer to Fred Huebner. As far as the double standard? Hmm... Harry is a pud and deserves to be ripped, but it's considered 'cute' when Jurko is non-responsive for the last hour-and-a-half of the show.

but at least he is in control and isnt getting suspended every other month because of lack of self control.

For a guy who has been suspended at least 3 times, which hurts the show, I find it laughable that Mac feels he can sit there and judge anything. Go a year without getting a unpaid vacation Mac, then I will take you serious.

So Harry gets a pass for having perfect attendence? That's a pretty high standard on which to award kudos... :roll:

As for Harry being the "whipping boy," I believe that is his role on the show:

Mac = Hot-head host
Jurko = Somewhat dim ex-jock
Harry = Mediocre comedian

I believe that there are on-air personas and "real-life" personalities. Mac is probably the most geniune on the show. I doubt Jurko is as dim as he comes across often. Harry...the jury is still out on that one, but I give him the benefit of the doubt.

The line may be thin, but certain things get pushed for entertainment or conversational value (ie Harry's WAY over-the-top homerism). At least it's not completely blatant.

One of the things (one) that bugged me about Rosenbloom was that it was obvious that he would say something just to get the phones ringing and the e-mails flying (there are many more annoyances, but I think they were well documented in another thread).
