I find it funny that the headline reads, "The sounds emanating from Chicago are mostly offensive, primitive and tasteless, and the city's passionate listeners deserve better."

Let's break this down then . Has Jay talked to any of the passionate listeners about their respective stations? I would think he would of grabbed someone from this board to get some opinions but I don't recall any of you talking about that.

I find it laughable Jay reports that Mac and North go unpunished for things they have said.I don't think Jay listens to MJH or he would understand that Mac has more time off than a teacher during the Summer. North has had his share of hand slappings but doesn't seem to get the time off Mac does.

Sounds like bitter grapes from a guy who has an axe to grind with a few radio executives.

I dont blame him, he got axed because he was being told to lay off the white sox and Bulls because JR doesnt like it. Sometimes the truth hurts. Listen, Jay can be a pain in the ass and has talked out of both ends of his mouth at times, but he has us talking about it doesnt he? The guy does a good job.

Jay can write what he wants and we are talking about it because this board is all about sports media in this town . My point is the piece is poorly written and not very well thought out.

I think we have the most passionate sports radio listeners on this board and we do take a ton of guys here to task but I don't think anyone has taken guy to task about being tasteless or anyone being offended by anything from any of their shows. Sports are filled with the biggest scumbags and Jay expects the Sports radio to be the Eric and Kathy show?

If I remember correctly that a bunch of the members here have come to the defense of Harry and Mac when they have been given time off. I don't think it's the listners who becomes upset , it's the groups who don't listen to the show and have an agenda and want their voices to be heard one way or the other that have a problem. Watch dog groups just sit and wait for people to make a misjudgement and then pounce. Not one person called to complain about what Chet said but the staion felt it better give him time off before someone does.

I don't excuse Mac for calling that women a bitch last year and it was unexcusable and the second he said it I said BYE-BYE..I thought he was done. Jay feels the need to bring it up 6 months later that's fine.

Nah. You're giving me too much credit. The only reason I didn't call them a bitch was because I thought we'd reconile and I could bang them down the line. Why burn that bridge by calling them a bitch? You always compromise yourself for the potential of future sex.

As I get older I realize once they act like a bitch it's there way of telling you they're done with you. There is little chance you can bang them later. So might as well call them a bitch if they deserve it.

Which JR deserves. I dont want to get on my soapbox about this, but JR deserves a lot of credit for what he has done, but the guy also has a giant douchebag side to him and all you have to do is look who likes to hire, Hawk, Farmer, Ozzie and KW, all who protect his ass and are yes men.

Yes, sometimes Jay just pulls it of his ass to rip JR, but 80% of the time JR deserves it and Jay is the only one with the balls to put it in print.

Fred, that's the point here. He did a Magellan to take some more shots at JR. If he just wants to take a shot at Sports Talk Radio, then just do that. No, he has to use the column as another way to take a shot at Jerry.
Jay wasn't going to talk to anyone on this board for this column. He usually skips locker rooms, yet still fires on teams and its playes on a routine basis. Why would he change his tactics here?
Every management team in town has done things to irk fans, but that doesn't make what Jerry does acceptable. Jay just appears to pinpoint on Jerry. One owner was resistant to show home games on television, another group has set up their own ticket-scalping agency and another's family-owned group has lost touch with the times.

Something else to consider.
Jay can just shoot from the hip here, because he understands that he probably won't have to walk the walk.
He's already burned his bridges with AM 1000.
He's going to go to The Score?? Remember his two top targets -- JR and Ozzie. Don't think management wants that spewed against one of its clients on a daily basis.
Maybe he'll go to WGN. Who does he work for again?

That goes to a post of mind a year ago, why is a owner and GM going to affect what a radio station does? Anyone who says that JR doesn't not have a impact what goes on the air at wscr when it comes to the sox is in denial.

Love him or hate him, you put Jay with a North or a Bernstein, you have a show, but because JR hates him, he will never get a gig there, that just doesnt make sense.

Like I said, I didn't yell it at her - and I was rather unemotional about the whole thing, I simply stated it as if it were an indisputable fact, and she accepted it - as she new she was out of line. I think she was a bit taken aback that I actually called her it. She'll get over it. Actually it was over 20 years ago, so hopefully she has by now.

I agree that a sports ownership shouldn't normally have a say in these matters.
But this is different. Jay appears to have a personal axe to grind with Reinsdorf. We just pointed out that he took a circumnavigate route to take a shot at Jerry in a column about sports talk radio.
If there was proof that Jay would have a discerning eye for everything related to sports in Chicago then I wouldn't think that would be a problem.
It's almost like a Kevin Bacon thing. Jay takes a certain number of steps with any type of situation to come back and point out the Jerry is a jerk.

He seems pretty willing to come up with a defense for Jacobson's actions or state that there's no proof of her comments.

I found Jay to be a very lame listen on the radio.

It was less about 'interaction' and more about Jay preaching his opinions and pimpin' himself.

I can get that from his newspaper column in 5 minutes vs. on the radio for 2 or 3 hours.

He was way off base in his criticism of the White Sox when it came to Mags Ordonez's departure too. It was less about 'getting a healthy' RF at a reasonable price, and more about the White Sox being cheap, criticizing Mags on his way out the door and beyond - and classless. Truth be told, Mags couldn't hold Jermaine Dye's jock that year, and the White Sox won the World Series. Now Mags is being implicated in the steroids mess by Jose Canseco. I believe this was also about the time that he chastized Marc Silverman for questioning his opinion on the air. "Who are YOU to question me". Once a douchebag always a douchebag. Eletist piece of shit....
