This ad was posted at Fenway Park in response to their new pitcher, Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Do you guys (and Spalding) think an ad like this would cause a stir if posted at Wrigley? It seems whenever any ads are posted at Wrigley, people act as if the sky is falling... let alone something they can't read.

larry, being that the carmines now have dice-k, im sure a good chunk of red sox home games will be shown back in his native japan.

i see no problem with that sign...or the many japanese language signs at seattle's safeco field either.

What are you talking about? This doesn't even make sense.

Are you from Green Bay by chance?

It would probably be accepted at Wrigley because the north side is much more diverse then the rest of the city

I know but even a small advertisement (in english) at Wrigley is a big deal. Could you imagine the outcry if something was put up that 3/4 of the population couldn't read?

If I do my math correctly, you are saying that 25% of Americans CAN read Japanese???

Really?

It was a rough (bad) estimate.... I don't have the exact numbers but I guess you do. Care to share?

Linda,

I don't care what signs they hang at Fenway. If you can't figure out that is an ad for Dunkin Donuts even if it's in Japanese then you are as dumb as people say you are.

It's actually not a bad strategy.

Whether you can tell what the ad is for, is not the issue.

Seeing that an ad behind home plate or on the outfield wall at Wrigley is a HUGE deal, do you think an ad in another language would be an issue?

Just a question, Spalding. No need to get your butt all sweaty about it.

Why is it a huge deal?

The 2 companies will come to an agreement on where the sign will be placed and how much it will cost. If the advertiser is willing to pay a high price the organization will accept that money.

As long as the message is not inappropriate or offensive it could be written in wing dings for all I care.
