That was a real wrist-slasher. I'm thinking they're looking for something a little more upbeat.

Kudos though, for making it and sending it in. I'm too lazy to even finish typing this mes

WR did a parody of "Hurt" for the Cubs. It wasn't very good.

too slow.

Yeah, if you can't put something really catchy together you are going to get hammered. Parodies are over rated anyway.

indeed, props for the effort. the lyrics and soundbytes worked, but bad song choice. gotta pick something a little more upbeat WR

Sorry I missed it. I think Michael Sheehan's entry is very beatable. I wanted to do one a Buerle no hitter tribute to Earth, Wind, and Fire, September. But that would be too much effort for no payoff so too bad so sad for me.

Agreed. Congrats on the effort, WR.

it could have been funnier. i liked that he chose "hurt". the cubs are depressing. it works. i also liked the idea of using johnny cash's version since it has more resonance with pinella.

Yea, I do not claim to be the next American Idol and I just decided, what the hell, you know? I knew this wasn't going to win, but I was listening to hurt and a couple of lyrics ran in my head about Lou instead so I did it. It is BAAAAAAAD, but yea I did it and I'm glad i did. I figured it would make some pretty good fodder on the boards. I'm glad Grid and his clan all heard it, ha!

Nas, you crack me up sometimes. I got shit for my song at first and then a few people say, hey, at least you give it a shot and then you piss all over them. No one was handing me a nineth play trophy, simply acknowledging the fact I tried to do something I normally wouldn't even bother with. Nt a big deal. :P

must be that time of the month for Nas...you do get like this every now and then. If you want, I'll take the liberty of going to Walgreens for you. Its the least I can do. 8)

well,
My Pink Floyd Parody song of "Mother" from The Wall, called "Ozzie" was simply too damn long. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it under a minute and 30....it was really fast, I was cutting too much out. Just didn't work, though the lyrics were pretty good.

I have a new idea though. Even though the deadline is noon today, I think I'll try to send it in this week knowing it won't be eligible to win.

Sung to Gordon Lightfoot's Sundown

Lou can picture every move that a manager
can make
getting tossed in the eighth is your first mistake
Scott Eyre, you'd better take care
if I find you've been tipping pitches to Matt Staires
Scott Eyre, you'd better take care if we find you a lead
no matter how rare
sometimes i think it's a sin
when I feel like we're winning when we're losing again

"Ozzie"
to Pink Floyd's "Mother"

Ozzie will Thome hit the bomb?
Ozzie will MJH like my song?
Ozzie will Bobby find his curveball?
Oooh...Ahhh...Will you make the playoffs?

Hush my little Ozzie don't you cry.
Don't let the media get quotes out of you.
Buehrle will throw a no-hitter, it's true!
Crede has one RBI, but Hawk likes his swing.
Kenny will do all he can for a ring.
The bats come around when the weather is warm!!!

Oooh...Ozzie,
Oooh...Ozzie,
Oooh...Ozzie please add another pennant to the wall.

Sung by Ted Phillips to Lance Briggs to the tune of
Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick".

I really don't mind if you sit this season out.
Our tag’s but a whisper your potshots a SHOUT.
I know how you feel but I hope you will think.
Your image is in the gutter; the fans think you stink.
So you’re staying away from the field
And you won’t stick by your union’s deal
I’m sure Rosenhaus can tell you how it feels
To be thick as a brick.

Now Brian Urlacher has come out to say
That he stands by your choice to stay away
Your foolish stand brings your close of play
I hope we can trade you before Draft Day.

But when your new shoes are worn at the heels
You’ll be broke and have to steal

I’m sure Rosenhaus can tell you how it feels
To be thick as a brick.

And the love that I felt is so far away
It’s a bad dream that I just had today
And Lovie shakes his head and says it's a shame.
