I believe Tyrone is an aristocratic name in England. A marriage to Tyrone might broker a title and additional estates for the Mc Neil family, thus ensuring future generations of wealth. Dan would be able to move his manor from Highland to the much tonier district of Munster.

I guess in Danny Mac's case it would be a "Shakesha". But I do remember Mac saying that he made his sons watch American History X to let them know that racism is bad.

"MISSISSPPI burning" was another great film about racism and "In the heat of the night" was another.
