Killer V wonders if Jurko and I read other sections on the board. Can't speak for the Good Kid. I do occasionally, but I'd be dishonest if I didn't confess to using the board almost exclusively for feedback on what we do, rather than what you cats think about the rest of the heap. Oak Brook Joe asks if there have been any words exchanged by Salisbury and MJH cast members. For that to happen, he would have to be in Chicago. After some back-and-forth insults back in January, I went to a Ditka show to suggest to Sean we should sit down over coffee or a beer in Miami so we could clear the air. He said he didn't know three was a need for it. I told him "Yes, you do." He agreed we should. I never saw him in Miami. And so it goes. Krazy Ivan wonders why Critics met the guillotine. It's not dead completely. We welcome media criticism - including that of our station - all the time, especially on Tuesdays. We all believe at 5:00, it's counter productive to designate a full segment or two to something that isn't for everybody. With two baseball teams, a hot Bulls team and the NFL Draft, it just doesn't make sense right now. Score Is Doomed wants an explanation for our "slipping" ratings. We've kicked the Score's ass in afternoons for more than three years. We expect another PM drive victory when the Arbitrons come out Monday. We've been in the Top 5 adult men for more than three years now. If that's slipping, I'm enjoying the fall. Mustang Rob chides me for my Dave Toub to Philly exclusive during Super Bowl week. Rob, do you think it was a coincidence they signed Toub right after the SB... before making the Rivera/DC switch? Philly wanted him badly as he has a history with Reid. The Bears learned this - from me - and doubled his salary. He should send me a bottle of Basil Hayden or something. STU-GOTZ wonders if I'd help North at ESPN if he asked. Somebody accurately pointed out that North's name is big enough to not need enlisting my services. Would I want Mike at our place? Sure. I hear our programming almost every day. I know Mike sometimes veers too far from the center, but that seems to appeal to many of his faithful followers. Truth be told, I'd listen to our station more if Mike were on it. Buryman knows we all want 2-6P for MJH and asks if it's ever going to happen. He also wonders if I'd leave if things weren't going the way I wanted them to. I'm told "we're working on it." Do I believe Jim Pastor and Justin Craig are fighting the good fight for us? I can't be sure. It's tough to say. If it hasn't happened when my deal expires and I'm not pleased with the show/station, would I leave? Yes, I would. Anybody remember my resignation from the Score in October of 2000? (Sorry for breaking into Jerry Angelo in this answer, but it is draft weekend). Frank Coztansa wonders who's responsible if a caller swearing makes it to air. All three hosts - who now have 'dump' buttons - and both producers would be responsible. And suspended. Finji and Harry were suspended for jokes Jurko and I told a little more than a year ago. Rome voice: ridiculous. Minnesota Fats (love your avatar) asks if Briar Ridge (where I crib) would be desirable for an MJH outing. Yeah, I've thought about that, but Stonewall Orchard donates the course to us so it's hard to beat that. At $1,000 a foursome, that's $36K for autistic kids' programs before we ever sell a raffle ticket or move a silent auction item. I just joined BR and really like the option of three nines instead of the standard 18. RodeoVann wonders about the impact of the Imus stuff. Indecency, obscenity, sensitivity police never have been more heavy handed than they are now. We can blame Janet Jackson's exposed breast for all of it, because that's when the shitstorm began. What Imus said was stupid but CBS gets the '07 Pussy Award for not standing by their original two-week suspension. Succumbing to pressure from sponsors, then saying publicly how disgusted they were by his remarks are both very shallow. Very transparent. Very typical. Beef Rockmore: thanks for posting the album cover of Nazareth's "Raz-Ama-Naz." "We got to get it together.... you bring the wine, we'll bring the weather." Best dog food ever. Keeder wants a ranking of seven cats for my co-host positions. Here they are, based on his list: Jurko.... Harry or Terry.... North..... that's all I can do. Chet is a solo act... Won't ever share a studio with Jiggetts again.... wouldn't want to work with Sean. And finally.... several asked about the direction of program director Justin Craig. Good questions from MU Scholar, Spinnin' Bucket and Woodridge Ryan (though his post was his "theory," and much of it was accurate). Justin's strengths: workaholic.... willingness to be our conduit to sales and tell them to F off if need be... organized.... demands excellence from production staff... wants remote broadcasts to be "events," not just another bar show... has helped me with some "mechanics" previous PDs did not... understands MJH is station's life's blood and has adjusted well to our not-so-serious approach. Justin's shortcomings: doesn't know Chicago well and hasn't done much local radio.... could be using us a stepping stone... probably too young and green to muscle up on Jim Pastor/Bristol brass... has been dishonest with me a time or two.... dangles carrots and has yet to give us a bite... believes too much in theories shoved down his throat by the network. |

North on ESPN radio? I hope not. I remember when the Score came on the air on AM820 (I think that was it) around the same time as a daily sports newspaper called the National. I loved the sports programming and the hosts Chicago flavor. North calls himself a Chicago guy. Maybe so; not my kind of guy. He's guaranteed turn the dial material. Thanks for taking the time for detailed answers. Having met you a couple of times, you seem genuinely interested in the listener's opinions. That's unusual and something the Bristol PR wonks might want to take more notice of. As the parent of two Aspereger's children, your work for autism is not lost upon me either. Thank you for that as well. |

Interesting candor there from one Dan McNeil. As far as the positives, i figured justin to be the well organized machine type. I just feel like it's so formulaic driven with the no respect or love for the art that can be radio. |

That's my thought as well (without the love for art crap). It seems like he learned the Bristol formula and is just cutting and pasting here. WR I think the Doc seriously wants your theories on the actual Kennedy assasination. |

Sorry, Nas. Jurko likely would edge me in a foot race. Both of us, I strongly suspect, have lost steps. I think he once told me his best 40 time was 4.9. That was my best ever. Harry would "refuse" just like a horse that sat in the gate. As far as having a daughter who dated a brother... all I would ask is whomever dated my daughter - if I had one - would treat her with respect and dignity. My older sister dated and married unadulterated white trash... she has been physically and emotionally abused for many years. My feelings on who would be dating my daughter would not be swayed by race. |

Rob, I don't take much joy in "breaking stories," but nobody in radio has had more 100 % on the money Bears exclusives in the last six years or so. I was on the Angelo-Saban thing before Dick Jauron was in limbo. I also had what broke down in those negotiations a couple years later. I wouldn't run with anything unless I knew it to be true. My Bears sources are uinimpeachable. |

- this little winky bastard means I'm kidding I've never had an issue with your or JD's Bears stories (can't say the same for Levine on baseball) I really did think that maybe the Taub story somehow contributed to Rivera's departure. Especially given how often we hear the "loose lips" line from their front office. |

Mac, do you know if the dump button works for the steaming broadcast or not? A few months back when that dude dropped an F-bomb about Joe Buck (and I believe, if memory serves me correctly, another caller dropped the F bomb on that same show), I hear both loud and clear out here in Big Sky. anyway, thanks for the candedness and the time Mackey |

Frank, I know they aren't responsible for what is said on the webstream. When Carm and Silvy did the web-only broadcasts during the MLB playoffs, everyone wanted them to just let the f-bombs fly. As far as the dump button's connection to the web, I'm not sure. |

Internet content, as far as indecency, is not regulated by the FCC, so I do not believe that a dump button is needed. |

Didn't you air the item on Rex Grossman supposedly partying the night before the Super Bowl? I've never heard if that was actually factual, but I do remember that you went with it on your broadcast. |

Seems like Mac has a little "Larry" Holmes in him. Is Mac the kind of a guy who's known to throw a punch? I guess we'll have to ask Strahan. |
