for FireRonSanto.com....Since MJH brought it up, I'll post it here. I was one of the first. S.P. Mack in South Shore said: May 16th, 2007 3:48 pm The guy makes me more angry at the Cubs with his grunts and moans. Get Mark Grace in there. I'll guess we'll have to wait until he passes. I saw Dr Ken, and Ryan Simmons in there, and Dan McNeil, John Jurkovich, and Mike Murphy, lol. |

Dr. Kenneth Noisewater said: May 16th, 2007 4:01 pm I see no need to actually set Ron Santo on fire. I would think his termination would be sufficient for you. But, I find his work to be some of the most important work being done on behalf of mankind. I hope that aliens will someday hear his screeching words and be inspired. |

I'm not a baseball savant, but most color guys are worthless anyway. I've been watching and playing baseball for a long time and am aware of a lot of the things color guys bring up. Some are better than others and drop good nuggets here and there, but most of them cater to the baseball idiot. So, I'm whatever with Santo, at least he knows he sucks other than Tim McCarver, jackass thinks he's God and for that matter G.O.D |

Wow. Someone needs to get a life. The fact that someone would bother to impersonate me on that site is just plain sad. |

The actual names in guestbook are funnier than the comments itself. Ryan Simmons said: May 16th, 2007 5:48 pm Yea, if that's the attitude he wants to take about it, then I'll never bother to look out for him again. I think he could probably drive fine, but i questioned whether he was over .08. I was just trying to protect him from the embarrassment of getting pulled over and having to deal with that. What if he drove up to a spot check on a road somewhere? It does happen. All I was trying to do was have him think about what he was doing. This was completely unrelated to Josh Hancock. I've always made sure my buddies make the right move when they decide to leave the bar. I've seen this stuff ruin people, reputations, and put hardships on families. And its happened on one incident occassions when someone probably could drive home but is over the limit. I've never attempted to drive when i shouldn't be, but I always appreciate if a friend asks how I'm getting home. Sounds just like you WR. Coach Crapowski wrote: I wish Ron Santo nothing but a long and secure tenure in the Cub radio booth. I hope he stays in the booth as well...for vastly different reasons. You really feel there's "never ending media chatter about Santo's HOF" qualifications? Yikes. I have a suggestion for you. Change the channel. |

Ron Santo sucks. Might be the worst broadcaster in the history of broadcasting. WGN ought to fire him, but then they knew that years ago. He's not in that job because of his broadcasting competence. WGN knows that too. And as long as the Tribune owns WGN and the Cubs, it won't happen. But fret not. I set the odds at 2-7 that this will be Santo's last year. ($7 to win $2). Here is why: The Cubs are for sale and will be purchased by another person/organization at the end of this season. The logical assumption is that -- as is the case with any business transfer of ownership -- key people will be gone. Any new owner will likely want their own broadcasting team to present the "new" Cubs brand and to clearly distinguish it from the "old" Cubs. I would fully expect any new owner -- with no ties to the Tribune or WGN -- to part company with the worst broadcaster in America at that time. Heck, I wouldn't even assume the Cubs will be on WGN next year. If I were buying the Cubs, I'd put the entire broadcasting package out for bid. |

I didn't sign the guest book because I don't believe he should be fired or let go (not just yet anyways). Harry Cary was allowed to do play-by-play well after his "best" years, so why can't Santo. I sort of agree with Harry in that if he was let go, I think it would eventually kill Santo. But now after listening to him in the top of the 7th inning today, I may start to think otherwise. Angel Pagan was leading off the inning with a 5 - 1 lead. He tried bunting his way on but popped it up. Santo was questioning why he would bunt in that situation saying "you have a 5 - 1 lead, there's no need for that." Although Pagan hit a two-run homer earlier in the game, his job hitting second is to get on base in front of the big boppers. With his speed and with the aging Julio Franco playing third base, that's why you bunt to try and get on. With the Cubs bullpen, no lead is safe. |
