I can't wait until Bears football finally arrives, and then MJH can start breaking down what ALL of Chicago is passionate about - NFL football - not the saga on the southside, not Ryan Dempster's role, not David Stern's balls and certainly extoll the unfairness of Harry's minor role in some ganklebanker convention. 58 days til pads folks! BEAR DOWN! ...and hell, college football starts even sooner! |

Don't think this'll be the Bears year, myself. |

I think your cycle is way off. Normally it's about 30 days. |

Recent history agrees with your assessment. I'd just rather be talking and listening to football than some of the minutia on the airwaves lately, the Guillen saga, the AJ saga, the Giambi saga, the Lebron James didn't take the last shot saga, the don't talk about TV show saga, etc. etc. I guess we'll be listening to (latest chapter of) the Lance Briggs saga in 66 days. |

with all the crap thats gone on during the bears off season, im glad there's not much bears talk right now. sure, the 2 baseball teams have been more of a soap opera as of late, but so was briggs, thank johnson, trading thomas jones, rex is our quarterback, and everything else that happened with the bears shortly after the superbowl |

I don't know if I can handle the storylines from Bears camp this year. - Can Benson break out at RB ? - Can Grossman become more consistent ? - Will Briggs play for the Bears ? |

Hey has anyone else heard the rumor that the Eagles are in talks with the Bears about a trade with Lance Briggs and Donovan McNabb being the centerpiece. |

I just hope Lovie can figure out some scheme to stop the two headed beast at QB for the Viqueens Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger. It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about them... |

What??? The Bears would make that trade faster than Harry can slam six shots. Is Dave Taub included in the trade |

The word is the Iggles would absorb one hellacious salary cap hit if that trade were to happen. ...and it's highly improbable. Furthermore, who would they cut or deal at QB? Griese is the one that makes sense - but I've read McNabb won't even be healthy come September - don't you think Rex would REALLY choke knowing that the Bears dealt Briggs for McNabb? And then after this year, they'd have McNabb and Orton? I'll pass. |

Yeah, but Kyle Orton should be starting. Mike North said so. |

The only good thing about the start of football season is my fantasy draft. After that wake me up when pitchers and catchers report. |

If there were a female version of Jurko, she'd be like a hockey goalie. She'd change her pad after every three periods. |

If this rumor is true and not just talk, if your the Bears, you take this deal in a second. If the Bears could get a quarterback like McNabb, who baring injury is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league and Briggs maybe a top linebacker or could be helped by Urlacher. Again if I'm the Bears, A BIG YES ON THIS DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!! |

There is an approximately 0% chance of that that trade occurring, for a multitude of reasons, most pertinently the cap situations of both teams and the fact that the Eagles feel like they have a legitimate shot to, at least, win the NFC and aren't going to trade their franchise QB for any reason. Yes, they drafted a QB in the second round, but that's not anything but insurance right now. In the meantime, some asshat in the Philly media has concocted this theory and has run with it- not happening, not today, not in August, not in week 6. |

Look i a couple of points here. Number One: Kyle Orton is going to be a good NFL quaterback if he gets the chance either with the Bears or not. Look at his numbers, they rivaled any rookie quaterback over the same amount of time. Number Two: If Rex is going to choke with the Bears bringing in a quality quaterback what would be the difference he already chokes now! Oh and for everyone else out there anyone interested in Trent Green? Reports have him being unhappy and looking to be traded. |

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there. The difference being that the other rookies you are comparing him to usually continued to be starters after their rookie season. Not third string quarterbacks. |

Yeah but when you have Lovie "Broken Record" Smith saying "Rex is our quaterback" no matter what the situation of course he is not going to get a fair shake to prove himself. That and if he stops partying so much and never grows a neck beard again he will be good. |

I'm with darkcloud in his assessment. A 4th round QB would not have taken a regular season snap until AT LEAST year 4 in most circumstances. He performed as you would expect a second day draftee to perform. I still think he has a future in this league. |

The point is he will never be given a chance to be a "good quarterback". I personally think he sucks. But the only snaps he'll see for the rest of his career will be during preseason, and couple of insignificant games here and there. He won't be put in any kind of position to do anything meaningful. |

Kyle Grossman, Rex Orton, who cares. Same guy in a different beard. Neither can truly get the job done when it really matters. |

Orton has the same problems as Grossman. I think that first year messed with his head and he has a tendency to fumble or throw an interception at key points in the game. I can think of 3 games his last year at Purdue that he did that. |
Author: | darkcloud07 [ Wed May 23, 2007 1:34 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
Yeah but that was only after he got injured. If you remeber the first part of his last year at Purdue he was an early heisman candidate. After the injury (which I think he played hurt the rest of the year) his plau slipped. The difference between Orton making rookie mistakes and Grossman is that Orton was a rookie when he made his while Grossman is still making them. |
