Did those evil Sox fans squirm their way into Wrigley for Cubs/Braves and litter the field after the Ump got the call right Bruce?
You said it was Sox fans after AJ's home run last year vs the Cubs. Couldn't have been the great Cubs fans doing something so awful.

Bruce you are nothing but a Cubs fan, Cubs manager, Cubs player & Tribune apologist.

You better suck up to the new owner so you can continue to write for vineline.

MJH make sure you ask these questions to the best in the business. The great Bruce Levine. Thanks.

Bruce Levine has covered sports in Chicago for 20 years, and spends most of his time criticizing the White Sox and complimenting the Cubs. Bruce co-hosts Chicago's Baseball Tonight (REALLY?) and is joined each weekend by Chet Coppock as he hosts Talkin' Baseball, now in its sixteenth season. Since joining ESPN Radio 1000, Bruce has won three Chicago A.I.R. Awards for Reporter of the Year (2000), Best Talk Show (2001), and Best News Reporter (2002). Along with his career in radio, Bruce has worked at the Sun-Times and has co-authored numerous articles in The Sporting News. Bruce also co-authors The Inside Pitch in the Cubs' Vine Line magazine.

Can you say "CONFLICT OF INTEREST?"

No more so of a conflict of interest than a avowed Sox fan covering the Cubs on the radio. Chicago is rife with Sox fans hosting sports talk radio shows. If Bruce Levine is guilty of a conflict of interest, then so are most Chicago sports radio hosts as they are fans of either the Cubs or Sox.

And then there's Harry to consider and his confused leanings...

I don't mind Bruce being a Cubs fan. Just put that aside when you cover the team. I would even accept a little bias. But my God, Bruce is an over the top apologist and ass kisser of everything that is Cubs.

Beat reporters are supposed to be journalists.

Sports talk show hosts are entertainers - as hard as that is to believe at times.

Yeah. Plus don't you want your Cubs reporter to be objective when covering the team? Even if you are a Cubs fan. Do you really want him apologizing for everything and making excuses for them.

Today, with Chet, Bruce said the Cubs have great players, a great manager, and great executives on this current team. How can that be when this team is on pace to lose 96 games for the 2nd year in a row? All of those loses while being a top 8 payroll team.

For Bruce it's more important to be buddies with the manager, players and management of the Cubs then it is to report the truth to Cubs fans. That's a fact.

With that being said Bruce does a good job covering the Sox. That's because he doesn't have a relationship or any love for them. So he's objective and critical when it comes to the Sox. As a Sox fan I like that.

Bruce has been hard on the Cubs. I think we can come up with plenty of reporters for both stations who try to be buddies with Managers and players.

Let's start with Shorty George...

One of my favorite sportsradio moments was when Sammy Sosa talked down and insulted George Ofman, humiliating him in front of his journalist brethren. Kind of funny how George always would lead his 6PM updates with the anticipated attendance at Comiskey Park.

They've done it about 15 times these past couple of years, they love to cover it up though. Funny, I didn't see the Trib put a picture online of the guy running on the field Thursday. Good thing all this didn't happen on the southside so Chicago didn't have to lead off sportscenter

Who owns Vine Line? Is it a Cubs/Tribune entity?

Definite conflict of interest. Alert Judge Mike Murphy for tomorrow's edition of Murphy's Court.

What makes Bruce so intolerable, is he is ALWAYS trumpeting this very statement. "Well as I journalist, I've long removed myself to any loyalties." I've heard him spew this out numerous times, and it's obviously a load of crap.

Bruce sucks.

Not true. The conflict of interest comes in because he is an actual employee of the Cubs. He has a financial interest in the Cubs being good and being popular.

kerchungathunk, that is the DEFINITION of a conflict of interest. He has a monetary interest in promoting the Cubs and their successes.

He's right. The Trib would only mention it if it happened at Sox park those lousy bastards.

Damn right. I'm all seeing, all knowing, and all drinking. I can tarnish a good win or pathetic loss with my antics and make you Cub fans look like the fools that you are. Mwahahahaha, next I will block out the sun so it never shines in or around your precious ballpark a la Mr. Burns and Professor Chaos. Glory will be mine. MINE.

It was only a matter of time before the Sox fans starting chirping over last night's incident at Wrigley. Since their season is over, it's officially "spew crap at the Cubs and their fans" season. That's OK though because I'm enjoying the hell out watching the Sox fans like Mac bitch and moan about how bad they are. Makes for good radio.

Hey Joe, aren't you chirping about the Sox season being over?
BTW, it is. I'm disappointed with the quick decline of the Pale Hose, but I'm not going to call all of my Cubs fan friends and let them have it for what transpired on Monday. I can't because it also happened at U.S. Cellular. That's why it was also incorrect for Cubs fans to do the same type of chiding when the incidents took place at 35th and Shields. Didn't a fan rush the field and go after Randy Myers in the 90's.

have fun watching the sox falter. we had our moment in the sun. and now that you mention faltering, im going to heartily enjoy the cub falling flat this season, and ill toast to the brew crew in late september when they are crowned NL Central champs

Cubs fans should almost be mad that the White Sox suck so bad - it is making the Cubs look like a World Series team, while they are sub-.500 in a terrible division. Unless this recent swing is for real, it almost sets Cub fans up for disappointment.

You do realize the Cubs are closer in record to the Sox than they are to the Brewers.
