Post subject:  MJH Experience

Anyone notice there aren't any bids yet for the MJH Experience in conjuction with the Jimmy V Foundation auction? Is that because no one knows if MJH will still be together for this outing or is the starting bid ($1000) too much? I vote for the latter. $1000 is a pretty hefty price to pay, even if it is for charity. Someone could have just spent the $250 for the MJH golf outing to eat, drink and hang with the fellas. I know it's for a good cause (my father died of lung cancer), but I think they are being a little full of themselves.

By the way, the Silvy & Waddle Experience is up to $750.

a lot of these V foundation packages are extremely pricey. i can't believe someone was willing to pay almost 9 grand (or more?) to go to the kentucky derby.

it's a great auction but it is BAD RADIO from 12-3. my god.

I agree, I feel bad for Bob Valvano, but he definately is not much in terms of being compelling or making a salient point about anything in the sports world.

Him and Todd Wright should have a bore off

oh God no! that was insufferable. at least this was only a 3 hour show...that was 3 weeks of HELL! especially the one week of RadioLab that took over the BBC news hour.

I think it would be pretty cool to see what goes on behind the scenes, but I don't think that's even close to being worth $1,000.

Two reasons perhaps: 1) Few people are listening; or 2) Most people listening are under 30 and they don't have a lot of extra cash lying around.

I tuned into this show between CDs in the car and heard a silly quiz on 20 something rap stars and entertainers. I felt Carmen's pain. I didn't know who the hell JD was talking about either in most of those questions. I thought these evening drive sports radio shows targeted 21-55 year old men. That quiz -- and apparently JD's act -- is targeted solely at 30 and unders....tops. That quiz was a good way for the hosts to say..."if you are older than 30 we have nothing for ya." I got the message with only a few minutes of pain. Let me know when Mac is back.

I'd pay the 9K to go to the Derby before paying 1K to hang with MJH.

Right on, Sabu. I write the subtle/obscure stuff just about every day and no one gets it (as far as I know).

I'll put Being There in my Top 5 of all-time.

In the grand scheme of things I meant....:-) The Derby is a once in a lifetime experience assuming they give you a nice box seat and go to a party the night before.....MJH can be seen at any remote and like someone mentioned, you could golf for 250 with em.

Slappy told me he got the same thing at the MJH outing for a $100 bucks. He's been paying to hang out with Mcneil for years .

A $1000 bucks to hang with those boobs ...... Keep it . Although it goes to a great cause, I think I could have a grand go to a funner time and still help out cancer research .

I've always wondered why ESPN chose to tie their one main charity gig to a guy (Jimmy V) who cheated when he was a coach. With all the good, honest people (including sports figures) who have died of various causes and diseases (and could have had a Foundation named after them with a major national network behind it), it makes me wonder why they chose Jimmy V -- a guy who ran one of the dirtiest programs of his era -- as their cause celebre.

The inconsistency of ESPN is a puzzle. Here is a network that hires a drug felon (Irvin) for a major on-air position, names a charity after a cheater (V Foundation), yet has the supposed corporate values to suspend a radio guy for abusive language? I understood why they hit Mac. What I don't understand is if they are so concerned about their values, why do they do these other things...

It is true Slap shot got the same deal for $100 at the Golf Outing outbidding me by $95

I felt bad that no one had bid on it and I figured it was for a great cause and a tax write off and a $100 bucks so what the hell.

Plus, Mac's wife Sherry kept saying to me that no ONE had bid on the MJH expierence and I did not want Dan to look bad in front of Sherry so I grabbed it .

I'm only kidding . Sort of. I'll grab a bunch of the MJH remote regs and share IT with Doug , Ryan , Grid , Spaulding and anyone else who wants to come down to a remote . Free food , drinks and a group photo with the guys AND some MJH swag .
