Post subject:  Jurko's Dog Story from yesterday

While Jurko's story about having to put his dog down, and then get the poor pooch cremated tugged at my heart strings...

I think it's a good rejoin opportunity for one of my favorite (underrated) Led Zeppelin songs: Hot Dog

Now my dog is gone I don't know what to do
It took my love but I walked right out the door
And if I ever see that dog I know one thing for sure
I'm gonna give it something like it's never had before

HOT DOG!

Here you go Good Kid, I'm a giver, not a taker:

For your poor dog

That's disturbing.

"hot dog" is about a groupie robert plant had a thing for in texas, not a dog (or the food item) as the title would indicate. with phrases like the following, its easy to see its about a fling he had while on tour

"i just got in to town today
to find my love has gone away
she took the greyhound at the general store"

the second verse is something like this

"she said we culdnt do no wrong
no wonder her love could be so strong she locked up my heart in the drawer"

then 'something about stealing his heart from his dungaraees and he'll never go to texas anymore'

then the chorus which you tried to post is actually

"now my babys gne and i dont know what do to
she took my love and walked right out the door
and if i ever find that girl i know one things for sure
im gonna give her something like she's never had before"

plant did write a song about his dog Stryder though. "Bron-Yr.Aur Stomp" from LZ3 is about his pet, though not about losing him

Don't you think:

Cremated Dog = Hot Dog

????

Was the song "Mandy" by Barry Manilow about "Tiny"? no.

hmm, i was pretty close!!

(Page/Plant)

Well I just got into town today
To find my girl has gone away
She took the Greyhound at the General Store
I searched myself I searched the town
When I finally did sit down
I find myself no wiser than before

She said we couldn't do no wrong
No other love could be so strong
She locked up my heart in her bottom drawer
Now she took my heart she took my keys
From in my old blue dungarees
And I'll never go to Texas anymore

* Chorus: Now my baby's gone I don't know what to do
She took my love and walked right out the door
And if I ever find that girl I know one thing for sure
I'm gonna give her something like she never had before

I took her love at seventeen
A little late these days it seems
But they said heaven is well worth waiting for
I took her word I took it all
Beneath the sign that said "U-haul"
She left angels hangin round for more

Chorus

I thought I had it all sewn up
Our love, a plot, a pick-up truck
But folks said she was after something more
I never did quite understand
All that talk about rockin' bands
But they just rolled my doll right out the door
Oh yeah, they just rolled my doll right out the door!

i dont think thats about a dead pet...

Will somebody please translate to Frank that I changed the lyrics to be more apropos to Jurko's situation? Apparently he's dense today.
