About frickin' time.

The Darwin Walker trade was highway robbery. Between the Bears and the Iggles Marv Levy's rectum must be raw. A fifth and seventh rounder for Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb? LOL...

Anyways, if any of you MJH heads are gonna be at Camp today - I hope to see you down there. I'll be the beefy man in the orange shorts accompanied by two kids, one in a Peanut 33 jersey and the other in a Plank 46 jersey.

Couldn't make it down for any ESPN remotes, but that's the way it goes.

...and if this is in the wrong forum, bite my orange shorts...

Here are my musings from today's practice:

HUGE crowds at camp on a work day. I was a bit taken aback. They showed their amateur fan status by waiting for autographs prior to practice, and getting stuck watching practice from the end zones. I watched from the 40 yard line and enjoyed it immensely. Training Camp to me is the road back to normalcy.

Devin Hester had velcro for hands. The guy is catching EVERYTHING thrown near him and he appears to be extemely focused.

Rex has been locking into his receivers (still). Griese and Orton didn't look much better.

Mark Bradley and Rashied Davis didn't look particularly strong today. Davis had problems getting off the line, and both had a case of the drops.

Moose made a spectacular catch on some extremely tight coverage from Nutty Tillman on a 35-40 yard pass over the middle. Tillman made it impossible to catch, an outstretched Moose tipped it, and then caught the airborne ball off the tip.

Also looking good in the passing drills, Uncle Ben aka David Ball looked good. Not explosive, not quick in his cuts, but he caught everything thrown in his direction.

Greg Olsen is TALL. Good Lord he's a big kid. He looked a bit stiff today - I don't know whether he's sore from the past few days, but he looked a bit mechanical and stiff when he was walking between drills. He looked pretty solid in some blocking drills next to John Tait, and he looked pretty smooth running routes - not stiff whatsoever - and he showed some good hands.

Garrett Wolfe and Mike Brown sat out today. Wolfe was seen kneeling on the sidelines during stretching drills rubbing his right hammy up high under his glutes. Adrian Peterson also got knicked up on a running drill. Neither was seen punching or striking Cedric Benson today.

Most of the defensive drills were on the far side of the field, so not much to report on that - other than the fact Lance Briggs was practicing with the first string players.

Former Bear Jim Miller was broadcasting (for Sirius or XM?) from camp also.

...and my youngest son got Urlacher's and Mike Brown's autographs on his signature football. Along with training camp kicker Nick Novak and scrub RB Josh Allen.

I assumed Grid picked up the Bears almanac at camp today and will be thumbing thru it and keeping some of the Bears trivia questions in the thought bank... Might come in handy the next time they need you at a remote to answer some Bears trivia questions. :lol:

BOURBONNAIS -- Greg Olsen continues to shine. Brian Griese continues to struggle.

Those two aspects highlighted Monday's practice for the Bears at Olivet Nazarene University.

Olsen, the rookie tight end and first-round pick, continued his near-flawless play with a spectacular, one-handed touchdown catch late in practice. Olsen did have one drop, but he continues to show how much of a deep threat he can be.

As for Griese, his backup status might be in jeopardy if he continues to play this poorly. His passes have been well off-target, and throwing an interception is becoming his norm. Chris Harris picked off Griese during 7-on-7 drills Monday. Starter Rex Grossman also threw an interception to Danieal Manning.

Personnel matters: Linebacker Lance Briggs was back working with the first-team defense. Newcomer Darwin Walker did some drills with the defensive line but didn't see much action.

Injury report: Second-string running back Adrian Peterson was shaken up for a bit but returned quickly. Defensive tackle Antonio Garay was back in limited action after sitting out Sunday with a hamstring injury. Running back Garrett Wolfe was without pads as he continued to nurse his hamstring. Safety Mike Brown sat out the practice but didn't appear to be injured.

Grid, I've got a question about Hester. I'm excited about all the reports on him. But does he make him self small and cover up the ball once he makes a catch. They're not hitting hard in training camp but is he practicing this at least in anticipation of a hit.

I just fear he's gonna get popped and cough it up once it counts. I'm also in fear that he's gonna take a hit that will end him for the season because he will keep his body exposed in the process of making a catch.

I'm aware there will be times Grossman will lay him out and he'll have no choice but to take that brutal hit but I don't want him taking it when he has time to prepare for it. Know what I mean Grid?

I see 4-5 touches a game on the offensive side of the ball. Predominantly, I think they'll use him as a decoy often, moving him around to make the other team account for him, opening up the offense for everyone else. I also think they'll line him up in the backfield, as a deep slot receiver for bubble screens, and give him an assortment of reverses, etc. I don't think you'll see them to deep to him too much, unless they use him deep as a decoy to open up that side of the field. Think about it. In a 4 WR set out of the gun, if you send Berrian and Hester deep, you're taking 3 defenders with them, at least, and that would open up the middle of the field and create a huge vacuum of space for our receivers to work underneath. Likewise, if you motion Hester and while in motion, snap the ball, fake the reverse to him, and boot around the other side, you will essentially move your entire offense one direction while the entire defense moves toward Hester on the reverse in the opposite direction.

Expect the ball in his hands 4-5 times a game by opening day.

Ya... I've got concerns about him also. He's wearing gloves too - which I think is bad, because he doesn't need them - but it's good if it builds his confidence.

All I know is that he's better than Mark Bradley and Rashied Davis so far.

Time will tell when we get to hittin!

If they only want him to learn a dozen plays, he'll be OK I think.

Are you referring to Ron Zook, Ron Guenther, or Ron Turner? So many Rons. Ron is a funny name, very close to Tron.
