Post subject:  Hester
Hester has been a topic of debate lately between MJH. Usually I hardly ever agree with harry's idiotic statements, and I think he definitely overestimates Hester's abaility to transform the offense, but i think mac and Jurko are even more so underestimating his potential impact. JD or somebody was reporting that they are using a formation with two TE, Berrian and Hester on the outside, and Benson in the backfield. Now that seems like a very intriguing formation if used at the right time against the right defense. I agree with harry that Hester will make about 1-2 plays on offense that contribute greatly to the offense, but the idea that he will somehow score 10-12 offensive TD's is kind of ridiculous. I definitely see him contributing way more than Mac implies he will though.

Harry's a clown, but Clayton is a HOF writer.
I don't think he was drinking the Bears cool aid when he wrote this.

Yeah i read that too, was surprised to hear a geeky looking dude like clayton reference Jimi, but it was cool nonetheless. Clayton may not be drinking the cool aid but i still think that article was a bit generous to Hester. Nevertheless, he's one of the most interesting players/storylines coming into the season imo

my only worry about hester is that i wonder if he has enough experience to get off line if he's jammed. is he strong enough?

I would think that alot of teams might worry about jamming him, because if the O line holds up protection long enough, thats almost asking for Hester to burn you deep because they might jam him intiailly, but once he breaks free he can outrun most cornersbacks and probably every safety in the league

What happens the first time he makes a catch, gets drilled, and fumbles (or even worse, gets injured)?

I'm with Killer V on this one. To take it a step further, it's not as if Hester was flawless on kick-offs, but all those touchdowns tend to make you forget the bad plays. How many dropped passes, screwed up routes or fumbles is it worth for the occasional "wow" moment? For now we only have glowing practice reports & (IMO) overly-optimistic projections. We've all heard that Ben Wallace regularly drains free throws during practice, but real games are another story. Finally, ask yourself why Miami didn't convert him to receiver since he was clearly a below average DB? :shock:

The juggernaut has ridiculous athetlic ability and if he's half as good as those reports coming out of camp, I think what position he played at Miami won't matter much. It's all about him staying healthy though.
