To Joe Morgan, for saying that Luis Castillo had spent his entire career in the American League twice when he misplayed pop ups. He claimed that Castillo hadn't played many games here before since he was used to playing in the Metrodome and the American League.
He's been in the Big Leagues for 11 years. He spent a year and a half in Minnesota. The rest of the time he played in Florida, where he was once an all star, won a world series, and had a 36 game hitting streak. Even a casual baseball fan would have known he played in Florida. I would expect the lead analyst for ESPN to know as well.

True..even if he had, how is that an excuse for misplaying popups. You cant tell me that a pop up at Wrigley is that different from the rest of the league.

Here's one that might irk a certain "Rick" on the board.

I caught part of Final Word last night. It was a segment about Northwestern and their upcoming season & schedule. When they put up the schedule, they listed "Perdue."

I don't watch enough to know if that's an inside joke or not...

they're playing the old chicken guy?

when the plate ump got hit in the mask, joe morgan thought the ump had a new mask, then decided it was the same one but that it just "looked different from the other camera angle." im not sure how he could tell that, but he must have better eyes and better knowledge of umpire equipment than i

That is more common than you think. Damn that chicken man, you make a tasty bird, but Purdue had the name first!

There is no excuse for a Chicago station to misspell the name of a Big Ten university though.

Thirded, fourthed, fifthed, etc...

Late in last night's awful Cubs game the guy sitting to my left said, "Well, at least we didn't have to sit at home listening to Joe Morgan do this game."

About a half dozen guys sitting around us immediately all jumped in to agree. Does ANYBODY like the guy as an analyst?

Seriously I have talked to about 10 guys about him in the past year or so that really like baseball, and all of us agree that he is an idiot who routinely embarrasses himself with his lack of preparation and thinks he is a genuis when it comes to baseball because he happened to play. This same quality can be seen in Salisbury. Well at least Morgan actually contributed in his playing days. But yeah its weird how he still has this gig considering I seriously have yet to meet someone that says "Yeah I like Joe Morgan as an analyst."

Joe Morgan believes that Joe Morgan is the only 2nd baseman to have HOF credentials.

Joe Morgan started as a bad announcer and continues to be a bad announcer. How ESPN has kept him so many years is a question for the ages. He is about equal to Bob Brenly.

I kinda like Bob... He's not bad.

brenly will over state the obvious every game, but he also provides some real baseball insight every game as well. cant speak about off the air, but he certainly doesnt come across near as pompous as 'know it all ish' as joe morgan does

I didn't like Morgan since the Sandberg induction to HOF anyway. So just about anything he says irritates me now.

GOOD POINTS GUYS. I was in Washington to broadcast a Sky game Sun afternoon,so I was watching the game in my Hotel room, and just rolled my eyes when I heard Morgan make an idiot out of himself(again).

THIS is what I posted in my Monday collum on www.grobber.com

***Once again the 'great' Joe Morgan showed his lack of doing his homework. Morgan said that Luis Castillo 'has been just about his entire career in the American League and is not used to the wind here in Wrigley Field'. Excuse me,,,,but Castillo spent much more time with the Florida Marlins then the Minnesota Twins. He was part of the 2003 Marlins Championship team and was a Marlins Farm product,at Kane County in 1995. Castillo also hit the ball against Mark Prior in game six of the 2003 NLCS that Steve Bartman deflected away from Moises Alou who is now a teammate of Castillo. Wake up Joe!! Or better yet,,,WAKE UP,,& GO TO SLEEP!
