I didn't care for The Insider - too long and drawn out. Typical Michael Mann flick....

"Gladiator" didn't do it for me...as far as epics go, it was one step above "The Patriot" which isn't saying much. I thought his performance in "LA Confidential" was his best so far I've seen. "Beautiful Mind" comes in close...

Agreed with the Michael Mann criticism, except I didn't think "Manhunter" suffered the same formula.

Even though I liked Heat, I thought they EASILY could have carved a half hour out of that flick. The love interest of Robert DeNiro (Amy Brenneman?) should have had about 5 minutes of face time.

In Heat they needed to develop that relationship to establish DeNiro's willingness to leave anything and anyone behind.

And a big thumbs down to Mac, for calling James Cromwell's character "Cpt. Dudley MOORE." C'mon dude, Arthur the cocktailing British buffoon wasn't running Mickey Cohen's rackets, but Cpt. Dudley SMITH was.
