For old time's sake can someone start a call by asking them,

"Am I hot?"

...instead how "how ya doin'"?

Actually, I would say that continually asking a question that has already been asked and answered many times is a sign of poor listening, and thus a sign of bad manners as well.

I'd never do anything like that without asking permission.

What frequency is your show on AF3?

So you admit that the unending "how ya doin?" questions are annoying, but you still defend them?

I wish people would say hello to me instead of ignoring me as I walk by, laughing down the hall, and throwing bananas at me in the parking lot.

That's almost as bad as:

"Long time listener - First time caller"

Really? Who gives a shit? Just get to your well-thought-out & original statement about how the Bears offense needs to improve.

The flaw (one of) with your theory is that evey caller is a different person and therefore are asking the question only once. As far as poor listening...hey, not everyone listens all day. Besides, Mac is so moody, he could be saying "good Jim" one minute and calling someone a bitch the next....seems like a legitimate question for each caller

I did enjoy the person that called into Boers and Bernstein and said "Long time caller, first time listener". I still don't know if it was on purpose or not.

I think society should rid itself of these types of pleasantries so I will no longer considered the bad guy when I respond "Fuck off".

Exactly. How is it "good" manners to waste the time of the hosts and everyone listening to the show? You need to hear the show about, oh, 1 time to understand that the constant "how are ya's" get tedious.

I agree. The next time a client asks me how I'm doing I'm going to yell at them and hang up. IT'S YOUR FUCKING JOB! People with manners are destroying this country.

Hey, no one's tuning in to hear you talk to your clients.

Now I get it.

What if Biff from Lincolnwood doesn't get to listen between 2-5? He tunes in at 5:05pm and just really wants to know how the guys are doing? He didn't get to hear the 4:00 hour when Buford from Palatine asked how they were doing, so he calls and asks them too.

Perhaps MJH could re-rack a couple of "How you doin'?" calls each hour for those who might have missed the answer.

It's no big deal. It's a natural response when somebody comes to you on the phone. It takes 4 seconds. The callers may know MJH don't like it but they forget at that moment because it is so natural to say "how you doin?"

MJH don't make flawless and logical points all the time. So I don't expect the callers too either.

I can see how its annoying but I also feel like radio hosts get more annoyed with it then it is. I would say hows it goin just as a greeting, thats probably more common of a greeting for myself personally than saying hi, hello, or hey. It takes literally 3-4 seconds to be asked and then answered with good, whats up. It doesnt bother me at all.

Tomorrow I'm calling just to ask how you guys are doing. I'll then hang up and listen for my answer.

People just say it as a greeting. It is not necessarily a question that requires answering. Just treat it like "hello."
