Not sure if this discussion has already taken place on this board or not, but I am curious what you guys think of the new format with 6-7 being "Mac, Jurko and Harry Post-Game". First of all the name "Post Game" was a bad idea because it is already consistently being used in sports talk radio for segments after an actual game....Cubs post-game.....Sox post-game.....whatever. Maybe they just had to mimic Boers and Bernsteins "Overtime" title with something they thought was kinda catchy. It's not.

Second, there is just something about listening to radio that is not live that just turns me off. Every time I listen to the new 6-7 segment, I think its Labor Day or Thanksgiving when you just get a "best of" segment. But to have that everyday, right in a prime spot like that doesn't make much sense to me. I would rather have "The Show" run from 6-9 then have an hour of replay with Ben's comments mixed in. Not working for me.

I think it's a sham. We didn't get an extra hour of MJH - we got an extra hour of replayed intereviews.

I dont think its as big a deal as everyone on the board makes it out to be. When I dont listen to the whole show, which isnt very often, I actually really enjoy it, and for people who get out of work around that time, I think its a decent idea because Finji does a great job narrating it, and I often find it very entertaining if I havent already heard the show. If you listen to the whole show then it is completely worthless, though not many people do.

I've heard it referenced as "MJH Postgame" once or twice before.

The idea, in theory wasn't bad, because you figure most people may not listen to the same radio show five hours. Perhaps, that is not the case since many people here hate the "best of" hour. With B+B live until the Sox game, it probablywould help if MJH were willing to go live until 6:30 or up until the 6:20 SportsCenter.

I think calling it a post-game is a bit conceited. You three are radio hosts doing a show. There was no game. It's not cute. We get it. But that's Loserviile.

why not start the cleverly named "the show" at six?

repeating the day's "highlights" does seem somewhat smug, although i'll take repeats of mjh over coppock or nascar every time...

I'm surprised MJH put so little thought into it. Like the Rex Grossman experiment, the 6-7 "best of" hour needs to go away forever.

Excellence is expected. We haven't gotten it. Any of Doug's comments on these matters should be disregarded. It's like Jesus defending there is a God The Father above.

The minutia douchebags are out in force today. Who cares it's fucken a radio show.

I like the 2 pm start and they can call it Horseshit at 6 for all I care .

We have a football team shitting down it's pant leg and a baseball team about to close the deal on a World Series run and I will bet that both stations will cash in on the downfall of the Bears and the World Series in Chicago. I think the boy's have been solid since the switch and the 6 o'clock hour is irrelevant radio for most of us here as we listen for all 4 hours anyway. If they go to the 5 hour program then I 'll tune into the 7 o'clock hour then. You don't like , don't listen .

If I handed you guys a thousand dollars in an envelope , you'd complain about the envelope.

I should have been clearer. They should've put more thought into the 6-7 slot, instead of letting it be a bunch of slapdash crap. I believe ESPN used to run Dan Patrick highlights from 6-7, and Mac famously ridiculed that concept. Why does he think 6-7 reruns of his show would be any more appealing?

so what do you want Midget?

MJH are not going to go 2-7. should 6-7 be FinjIsland with "The Show" guys staying on for the last 15 minutes?

Get somebody with talent to do a local, live evening show. I'd prefer some Hood involvement, but there's any number of directions to go.

Mac didn't criticize DP's content. Rather, he attacked the concept of a radio rerun. The same rationale thus applies with his own 6-7 radio fiasco.

Actually, I'd prefer that Carmen were fired. He is dumb, bland and bad at radio. Pair somebody with Hood for the 6-9 slot and then let Bruce Levine do the God awful Baseball tonight show from 9-11 if Justin Craig insists that's a good idea. If not, bring back the Grobber for some evening shenanigans.

To clarify what the 6 pm hour is all about... Finji fly's the plane and will run some audio of the show and then he has a transition with Carmen and Hoddie and Finji will do updates and talk about the day's sports news, IE. Cubs , Bears and wHAT EVER. sO TO CALL IT A TRUE RE-RUN OR RE-Rack of the show is not the case.

So you're saying I'm lying because the Great Dan McNeil, that esteemed paragon of rational behavior, could never contradict himself? Good reasoning, Stu.

As for your "explanation" of the 6-7 hour, I do realize that Finji does a fair amount of talking during this slot. That's another problem I have with the show. Why should Finji be given prime air time when he really hasn't developed an entertaining on-air persona yet? Let him develop during off hours. Right now the "post-game" amounts to the worst combination of boring replays and the stale musings of an inexperienced host. A true live, local show with experienced hosts would be a much better option in my opinion.

Why not?? The Roe Conn Show has been 2-7 for quite a while. I bet MJH would be up for it, but the powers that be wouldn't fork up the extra $$$.

I'll doubt they do. Leaving the city at 6pm? They probably get home at the same time if they left at 7.

I disagree Midget. Finji has been funny as hell. I like the fact he doesnt try to sound all official and professional, it sounds like someone my age just was let on the radio and allowed to do really whatever he wants with the post game show. I found it pretty funny.

Actually all three do enjoy getting off at 6 instead of seven.

This is true, but go ahead and ask Mac or Jurko what their thoughts are on this re-run show from 6-7. I wouldn't say they're big fans of it by any means. Personally for me, it has been kind of nice to catch up on a segment where I might have been working. My only criticism was something getting air play three times, but you're not going to make everybody happen, nor should you try I guess. Impossible.
