Griese deserves a media pounding.

He made the same mistakes Rex makes, maybe even worse as 2 INTS are in the red zone and 1 for a TD, all of that without even the threat of long pass.

Yes, he did move the team against a terrible team, but this short passing offense will only last so long.

This "give him some time" crap, is also pissing me off. he had some time. he had this week and the previous 8 years to get ready to be an NFL QB.

Not going to defend Rex, but Griese did no better, maybe even worse.

Are we ready to make the big contract offer to Marc Bulger?

And yet nobody around here ever wants to hold Jerry Angelo accountable for anything.

Berrian seems to be able to make plays (as long as he catches it and/or the ball isn't thrown behind him), but there's not much else besides Clark at times.

I'd like to see the Bears use Olsen and Hester a lot more, and make hem part of the gameplan where they actually make it a point to throw the ball more to them.

It's not going to matter much though if the line doesn't start blocking better.

These two statements completely contradict each other:

Questions should be asked about our RB and QB situations. There may not be a long-term (or a immediate one) at either position, and the offensive line appears to have lots of issues.

Overall, I think Angelo has done a good job though, and I'm ready to call for a new GM or anything like that.

How do those contradict eachother whatsoever? He is clearly saying the whole offense is to blame. Quote 2 actually backs up Quote 1 there.

What?

They don't have a single playmaker on offense. Who puts the team together? The GM.

I'm not calling for his head, either. I just think he's getting a pass.

I'm not sure if it is the line with the exception of the turnstile at RT or if defenses aren't afraid of the Bears RB or receivers. That's why I believe they are blitzing the way they are. If the Bears receivers could hold onto the ball and make a few big plays defenses will start to back off.

You are right about one thing - the only way to get those defenders off the line and from blitzing is make some plays down the field. We've played 4 games now, and I think only Moose and Clark (amongst our receiving options, and not counting OT's) have the only TD's. Not exactly stretch the field options, and that's the problem.

What is even more disturbing is that Hester routinely put the offense today in short-field positions, and they still couldn't do much - only 13 points of their own (7 more for Hester), and then a lsat minute drive vs the prevent defense.

Replace Ron Turner with just an above average Offensive Coordinator, say the 10th best in the league right now, and they easily win this game, are either 2-2 or 3-1, not sure if they coulda beat the Chargers still, and would look considerably better for the rest of the season. He is almost 50% to blame, and the offensive line is most of the other half. Overall though there is not 1 player on the entire offense including Kruetz who has played well so far this year.

It's sad when your only offensive threat is your kick returner.

Maybe they can convince another short, cocky kid to leave school early to QB. The great Jimmy Clausen would fit into the Bears as the next "ideal" QB.

They don't have a clue on drafting offensive talent, in fact, their evaluation ability is OFFENSIVE!!

I see what you are saying but with the exception of the offensive line most of these guys are players he drafted and he wanted to see if they could improve upon last year and work in studs like Hester and Olsen. That hasn't happened.

They weren't going to make any changes to the starting offensive line. They added Beekman in the draft, and they will need to add more help next off-season, but I can't blame Angelo for the line playing poorly. Of course, we all new it was getting older, but I don't know that anyone would have predicted that the offense wouldn't be able to run the ball or protect the QB better - if anything, I heard more concerns about the line's depth being called into question, which is defintely a legitimate concern, espeically at the tackle positions.

The Olson and Hester additions to the offense are frustrating. I would totally understand if they didn't want to do risk using Hester if it meant injuring him or limiting his ridiculous ability to return kicks, but this decoy position that he seems to be filling isn't fooling opposing defenses. As far as Olsen, put him on the field. He can split out and be moved around. The current offense isn't working, but they don't seem willing to use Olsen that much.

When things go bad there is enough blame to go around to everyone. There are a lot of what ifs. What if Olsen started the season healthy? Would the offense be better? What if the defense was healthy? Would the Bears have lost the games to Dallas and Detroit? I was excited when the season started because I kept hearing and reading about how explosive this offense looked against the top ranked Bear defense in camp. At this point I'm willing to settle for the 2005 Bear offense.

I think the media (newspapers and our favorite local radio reporters) tend to overhype most players in training camp, but I have no doubt that if we had a healthy defense, the Bears would have won this game.

ron turner needs to start taking a beating too. this guy couldnt call his way out of a wet paper bag. he's just as big a boob as the 2 "quarterbacks"we've seen this year.

2002 all over again..

I've never given R. Turner a pass: http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php ... ght=turner

I blame Sunday's loss to Detroit on R. Turner & the offensive line.

B. Griese with 52 pass attempts?

I think this team forgot that they became successful by being boring on offense. Run the ball and then punt. Perhaps occasionally kicking a FG.

I still have hope for the season but only if the offense becomes more boring.

And what a surprise: they ran this same broke-ass play again. What the fuck ever happened to the talk of Hester being a great route runner, to the point where a John Clayton compared him to Steve Smith? We hear nothing but how great this guy looks at receiver all goddamn training camp long, yet when the season starts, they won't so much as make an attempt to have him run an actual route and throw him the ball. No reverses, no routes: just that same dumbfuck screen that everyone in the stadium and watching at home knows is coming. God almighty our coaching staff is stupid.

I said it before the season. The way things are going, the first time he runs an actual route and makes a catch, he'll get his head taken off and the Bears will lose their only offensive player capable of scoring a TD anytime he touches the ball.

Well, they need to pick a lane. If this is what they're going to do, they shouldn't bother with it: there's no reward to go along with the risk of injury. Either actually have the guy play, or just keep him as the returner and that's it.

I agree whole-heartedly. Actually USE the guy on offense, or not at all.

I think they need to go to the pump-fake more. It worked against Dallas except the knucklehead dropped the pass.
