Mac - I know you don't venture out of the MJH section too much so I'll post this here.

You've got to play this on the show. This needs mass distribution. Best parody I've ever heard!

http://www.beachwoodreporter.com/sports ... lievin.php

Sung to the tune of Don't Stop Believin'

Just a baseball club, known as the Chicago Cubs
They haven't won anything, since 1908
It's like their fate is sealed, playing there in Wrigley Field
Fans pray and wait in vain, since 1908

Ivy growing on the outfield walls
Fans pee in horse troughs
They've got no stalls
Eamus Catuli
It says there in right
The years go on and on and on and on

Cub fans. drinking
All around the Friendly Confines
Yuppies, stumbling in the night
Bleachers, hot chicks, living for inebriation
Showing, great sets of ta-tas

Lou's kicking dirt all over the place
Zambrano's punching Barrett's face
Hendry paid millions for this year's team
Results will be the same

For a few short days, they're in first
But don't you know, these Cubs are cursed
Wait till next year never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

D-Lee, fighting
Couldn't land his girly punches
Don't give, Ryan Dempster the ball
Right quad, Soriano
Your heartbreak's just around the corner
Santo, still waits for the Hall!

Please stop believin'
And wake up from your dreaming
Lovable losers, they're the Cubs
Please stop believin'
For 100 seasons
It's Gonna Happen, Who You Crappin'
They're the Cubs

Meanwhile the White Stocking continue to take a backseat to the Cub in this city.

Just a couple years after they had a cakewalk through the MLB Playoffs (vs M. Clement's Red Stocking, vs B. Colon-less Angel and NL Wild Card Astro), the majority of the city doesn't care about them.

They're bad at baseball and boring to watch.

Yeah, 'cuz those Sox fans aren't getting any enjoyment from the Cub exit itself.

It is a good parody though.

Nothing like posting a parody that was on Channel 9's morning news over a month ago. Dynamite! Great new stuff you're finding out there....keep it up.

***My mistake: I received the web page with the lyrics in an email over a month ago. (it was posted on Aug 9th). The YouTube video is probably newer. Carry on.

It's all about championships Linda. So while the Cubs drive the White Sox around in a limousine, I agree, the Sox are in the backseat.

Hang onto your ridiculous affinity for 'attendance' and 'popularity' as the White Sox have not only won more championships in the past 100 years, 50 years, 10 years and 5 years in MLB than the Cubbies - they have also won significantly more games in the past decade.

I've read alot of these types of pro-Sox posts since the Cubs early demise and I'd just like to point out one thing.

The Cubs have not won a World Championship in 100 years and yet, one more Championship by the Cubs, and they have just as many as the White Sox (3 to 3). So, let's not get all carried away with the talk of Championships around here.

Actually I give my Kudos to Cuda, who posted it in the Cubs section first, last night:

That's a mighty big IF you have there good doctor.

...and the tiebreaker goes to the White Sox, who beat the Cubs the only time they squared off in the World Series.

Feeble attempt on your part, but I give you credit for doing math on your fingers. Then again, as Chicago baseball fans, that's all we need are fingers to count championships.

Yeah, and Vanilla Ice sold more records than Tribe Called Quest, so what does that prove? Popularity does not equal quality.

I was referring more to the meatball aspect of Soxfandom that revels in this sort of thing. The song being funny or not is irrelevant to my reaction. I don't understand the reaction at all.

I'm not certain what you are getting at here. But, I agree that both organizations have little to talk about when it comes to Championship baseball.

I made no representation on the quality or popularity of Cub baseball. Cub baseball has had a historically bad streak of losing and yet the Sox haven't exactly run away and hid with the World Series title tally which was my point.
