Just curious what Mac thinks.

I know it's all about making a dollar. But Jesus Christ, why do you have a sponsor telling people to go away from your station? That makes absolutely no sense.

I just heard Howard Stern doing a spot. They've had other Sirius spots recently on the station.

You get the money for their sponsorship but in the long run you'll have less listeners if they buy Sirius. Thus less revenue for other ads.

Does anybody at ESPN radio realize this.

It used to really bother me. Way back when, I had wars with the Score guys about ads for 'XRT (same umbrella) on our station. I don't like it... but I've learned to pick my battles. You can't fight City Hall (all the time). I recognize satellite radio is here to stay, but right now I don't find it to be a terrible threat. Big markets always will prefer local programming when it comes to sports and news. I'm more concerned about losing listeners to Conn or B&B or an FM rocker. If we played ads for them... I'd feel much stronger than I do about Sirius.

You should stop bringing them up then.
I've heard you say how you'll take a break for a segment to give Dan & Terry a chance to catch up a couple times recently. Each time you do, it makes me want to click over just to see what they're doing.

I am a Sirius subscriber and also a die hard MJH fan. I like the music and Howard Stern; however when it comes to sports, local is better.

The sports radio on Sirius is network type stuff. ESPN, Sporting News, NFL radio, NBA TV, and Nascar radio. For the hard core sports fan; there is no substitute for the "Last Neighborhood Corner Tavern".

Mustang, a lot of programmers would scold me for mentioning B&B or Dahl. I understand that... but I also think it's incredibly disrespectful to the audience to pretend other shows don't exist. I probably go too far in the other direction. I'm a consumer, too, and that's just another way to relate to the audience, which I think I've done a pretty fair job at over the years.
