Actually, the reason why the Japanese players wear their "first" name on their jerseys as opposed to the family name, is because unlike here, where we are known by our given name then family name (i.e., Dan MacNeil), the Japanese are known by their family name, then their given name (i.e., Suzuki Ichiro, not Ichiro Suzuki). |
