Quote: Listeners to ESPN Radio 1250 are hearing a kinder, gentler Mark Madden these days. But the change in his act is not necessarily of his choosing. Madden, who has made himself one of the best known media figures in the region at least partially by inflammatory statements, sexual innuendo and insulting popular sports figures, has been ordered to tone down his act by his bosses at ESPN in Bristol, Conn., or face dismissal. Click link for the full story. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07354/843183-194.stm Madden is a vile prick, no doubt about that. But this sort of reminds me of Danny Mac, every now and then when he gets in one of his moods. Trust me, I love the Dan McNeil who has the balls to say that Chris Berman sucks, who rips Sean Salisbury, who gives a thumbs down to any network who employs Dan Davis, for saying that John Stashower sucks, and telling ESPN Radio corporate execs to get off their asses when the top of the hour SportsCenter updates from Bristol don't work. And from what was suggested in the past (I think on the air or maybe on this board), the mothership wasn't too happy with Danny Mac blasting Berman... or maybe it was Berman who was upset that he was getting ripped on or something? Whatever. I hope the mothership doesn't try this game with ESPN 1000 or Mac, if they haven't already. Going out on a side note, season's greetings to everybody here and a happy holiday season. Merry Christmas! [/quote] |
