Leave it to Harry to defend the right of "ticket agents."

They have the right to be Douchebags and try to provide what they call a 'service'.

Remember, we once had to defend "Too Live Crew" to "perform"

call any ticket broker and EVERY single one of them are PRICKS on the phone. Especially if you try to sell them a ticket.

I know what you're saying Ryan, but how is a "Cubs Auction" any different than a ticket agent?

imho we're seeing the evolution of the SCALPERS.

Before 'Ticket Brokers/Agents' would profit.

Then fans took it upon themselves on ebay and StubHub.com

Now the teams are saying FUCK THAT - we can do the same damned thing. Which is all fine and dandy IF they reinvest the money into the team.

Ya right. ;)

And the Cubs aren't alone in this, most teams are doing this, as evidenced here:

They all seem to give off that Board of Trade vibe

I'm not defending what the Cubs may be doing. It was more the fact that Harry thought the idea of ticket brokering is respectable and we should be happy it exists.

What's funny about this is that the people complaining about this are probably the same people who brag about how Cubs win the "attendance trophy". Is it really such a great thing for Cubs fans that Wrigley Field has become Chicago's largest beer garden and even White Sox fans like me like going to Cubs games too?

Even though it's bad for Mr. Reinsdorf, I love the fact that during the season I can decide I want to go to a game, buy it right through the the White Sox(I only need the cheap seats for a baseball game), pay less than I would for similar Cubs tickets, and have a good time at a game.

Add in the fact that the White Sox won a World Series and I can still do that and it makes me a happy White Sox fan.

The Cubs will continue to do this until they reach the equilibrium of demand and cost. The Cubs are going to eventually be the Country Club Cubs.

Are you honestly saying that Cubs fans don't puff out their chests boasting about how Wrigley Field is always full?

If you really want me to find a bunch of posts in the White Sox/Cub sections where there are comments made about The Cell not being full or Wrigley selling out I will but it's not hard to find.

I'm talking about this people disucussing it in this thread. I'm one who is complaining that has never "bragged about how Cubs win the "attendance trophy". That's completely idiotic. Just letting you know the people in this thread aren't ones who brag about it.

I never said you were. I was more or less talking about the whole issue of this lottery setup. This seemed like a good place to put it instead of starting my own thread. I guess it was worthy of it's own thread, but I don't want to come off as a Cubs hater.

Sorry. Your opening statements sounded like you were implying a few of us brag about who had more people come to the games in a season even though they may have been 12 games worse than the Sox. I hate that shit.

Some of them might. You obviously don't. :)

I guess I should stick to bashing the Colts.

A question for Harry .. Harry mentioned that one of his friends dad was coming into town and never seen a Bears game and his friend went to a ticket broker and got 2 seats and took his dad to the game and now his friends dad is in a home..

My question to Harry is was his buddies dad put into the home after watching the Bears performance or did he become ill later on in life??

Re-rack that one Finji...Mac and Jurko had a two foot Putt and choose to go with a gimme.

Rick,
Did you not get this invite:

Bid on premium lower box tickets right here at whitesox.com! Tickets to Prime and Premier games are available in this unique auction before fans have the chance to buy single game tickets on Friday, February 15 at 10:00am

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/tic ... ctions.jsp

All teams are trying to maximize their ticket revenue.
We'll all fucked as soon as Ticketbastard figures out a way to auction off 3 million tickets

I'm not complaining about it. I'll still be able to buy tickets during the season for face value. I have no doubt that stuff like this will happen everywhere if they can just like Per Seat Licenses. This kind of stuff happens all the time in college football, but it's in reverse order. You donate to the athletic department, get points and ranked, and your seats are based off of that priority.

My point was just that it's kind of funny that "some" of the people who boast about how Wrigley Field is always full are probably the same ones complaining that the Cubs are attempting to sell seats at a price that meets that demand.

The White Sox would do it if they could and as you have pointed out, they actually do. I just don't think the White Sox will ever be able to do it for all seats whereas the Cubs most certainly could.

I'm not complaining either, just wanted to point out that it was happening on both sides of town.
It was just a matter of time until the teams wised up and tapped into the secondary market pricing.
I'd be pissed if I was a season ticket holder looking to improve my tix location, but couldn't cause this pool of tix is being held for auction, but I'm not.

Maybe they don't boast how full Wrigley is, but some certainly take full advantage of every opportunity to blast The Cell for being less than capacity.

STUB HUB is for Ticket brokers and regular fans.

I have Bulls ticket on their fo less than face and they still don't sell.

Totally Different Stu Gotz-

Just so you know when you list STUB HUB tickets, seller can set the tickets to go auto lower each day.

So if you see ALL the tickets too high then it is just regular people being jerk offs

I love the fact the Sox don't sell out....because selfishly it's a great alternative for a baseball fan. Can't get ticks to a Cubs game? No problem. Head south and still be able to watch MLB later in the week. It's just another great advantage to living here.

I have no problem with people who realize they can't go to the game and don't want to eat the tickets.

But there's a special place in hell for people who buy tickets just to make money jacking up the price for real fans. That's weak. Ticket scalpers/brokers are weak. Defending ticket scalpers/brokers is weak.

Yeah, I know, people can do whatever they want with the ticket, it's supply and demand, they're only taking advantage of perfectly legal outlets blah blah blah.

Whatever. They're all going to hell. Right behind Dana Jacobsen.

Of course he does, and so do I. Who do you think he sells a lot of his Cubs tickets to? As do I. I work during the day as does Harry and we obviously can't go to all the games. What do you suggest we do with the tickets? Eat them? Mine cost $ 6000 a piece for the season and I have 5 of them and they play a lot of day games The broker provides a service to me.

You don't have to eat the tickets, but brokers shouldn't be making 100s in profits off them either.

This post is total bullshit. You hate Harry and never agree with him, so the previous post in null and void.

First, don't buy tickets then complain when you can't attend the event. You know the Cubs play daygames. Deal with it.

Put them on Ebay or stubhub yourself, dickweed.

White Sox fans boast plenty on being real baseball fans and winning a world series lately.

Every fan base has assholes. I agree that Cubs "fans" can be royally obnoxious and painful to be around...but Sox fans can be just as nauseating. That's why I'm not a fan of the fans, but the team.

And fans like me suck...because I am a negative a-hole according to my fellow fans.

why, when the broker pays in cash? And above face value. At the end of the year, when adding it all up, I go to games for free by selling the others. I know the concept is difficult for the slow witted ones, like you.

Maybe one day you will get a job and able to pay for tickets you want, until then stop talking out your big ass.
I do see why they didn't put a half wit like you on the air the other day. They read the board too. You continue to show what a village idiot you really are. Keep up the good work, every village has an idiot and you are the MJH village idiot.
