You know it's going to be a bad year for the White Sox Mackey , when one of the players calls you and you have no clue who he is. I felt pretty stupid but Jerry Owens felt even more dumber after spending 5 minutes on the phone with me.It just didn't click a player was calling me.

Today the White Sox are having some players call their Season ticket holders to thank them and give a "Were going to be fine" pitch and come on out and watch us win the Central speach.

I get the call and a guy said Hi, I'm Jerry Owens with the Sox and I want to talk to you about being a season ticket holder..I said , I already sent my payment in and he should of got ..Jerry say's no , I understand that I just want to talk to you about the up coming season ..I said who are you again??? Jerry Owens your center fielder!!! Then I ask again why he was calling and I thought to myself this must be a joke and Jerry feeling kind of stupid just thanked me and hoped for the best and hangs up as he probably thinks why the hell was he stuck doing this but I felt dumb none the less. Had to share as I thought you guys would find it funny .

I called my ticket rep to ask why Jerry Owens is calling me and he laughed and said Thome and Kornerko were too busy to bother with us and platoon guys were calling fans today.

Some Sox fan I must be. :roll:

I thought Nick Swisher was the Sox CF?

In a way, I am glad Kenny and the players have confidence in this team, though I'd much rather hear the truth. Which, at this point is, "We've got a good start for a great team here. If these guys go out and play a near perfect season, we will be right in the race this year. But odds are, that is not going to happen this season. However, we are expecting lots of big things from the White Sox in '09, '10, and beyond."

Why didn't you tell Jerry to go over to the other phone and ask Crede if he liked your cigars. :wink:

I think about that story every time I'm getting the hot towel treatment at the Darien sport clips. They have your exact picture autographed by Uribe hanging on their wall.

Dick Jauron just called me and I told him I appreciate he took the time to call me on his phone.

He then took the next 3 minutes explaining to me that it was not his phone , but it was the Buffalo Bills phone and he was just using the phone.
