Mac will LOVE this one:

HOT DAMN! Get over your bad self Chris (dum) Berman

Chris Berman has a meltdown of Kasey Kasem / Howard Beale (Network) / Earl Weaver proportions...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnC8BtNBNLo

That is some rich stuff!

I'm sure one of these 'a-holes' that Berman was cussing at snagged the tape and posted it on YouTube.com

ESPN is having a round January between this and the drunk dyke Dana from Michigan.

Although he did say Jesssus about 10 times and F--- about 5 times, he never said "F--- Jesssus" so he's good.

I really enjoyed that too.

But ya know what. I don't think Berman is an ass hole for this. I understand frustration. We all have these moments. He's trying to do his job and people are making it hard on him.

I actually have a new respect for Berman. It's nice to see these robot and shtick broadcasters actually have a human moment.

This wasn't bad in the grand scheme of things.

I still hate Berman, though.

He is ok in small doses. He is horrid on the MLB Homerun Derby.

Yeah, that's entirely too much Chris Berman. But the three minutes here or there isn't so bad. I don't think he's the worst thing in broadcasting, not by a long shot.

And Like Beardown, that clip just made me like him more. He's like a 5 or 6 out of 10 in my book now.

I'm tired of his act.
Small doses????????????
He's a part baseball coverage, football coverage, golf. Enough already.

I'll say this for Berman. When it comes to football he has a genuine enthusiasm and passion for it. It comes across on the air. Some guys in the business lose that. Berman hasn't. He loves the NFL. He knows it's history and he loves the great moments the NFL brings. He brings a sense of importance when he's covering the NFL.

Sometimes the shtick gets on your nerves but there are worse broadcasters than Berman. He's good with the NFL. I don't like him as much at baseball and the other sports.

Maybe that's why my opinion of Berman is higher- I don't watch the Homerun Derby, and the baseball I do watch is usually local, not ESPN. I tend to watch a lot more ESPN during football season, and not just for MNF.

I like Berman. But I don't watch ESPN anymore. NFL Network is the shit!

Berman & his shtick were funny 15-20 years ago(think about that number). "He COULD GO ALL THE WAY" & the sound effects & name jokes are tired. I can still hear his calls of "Whap", "Whoop", Wally "Absorbine" Joyner and Barry "Bananas" Foster echoing in their broadcasts during the VCR age.

While he may have had a passion wayback when, given that his act has not changed over the ensuing decades, I do question his current passion and enthusiasm. No, strike that, he didn't even have real passion of NFL football back then, he just aped John Facenda, Steve Sabol and everything that came out of NFL films with his own personal sound effects.

Frankly, he seems professionally lazy. He shows up for everything ESPN has to offer to pick up his check, bounces the same balls off of his nose like the trained seal that he is, grins stupidly and promotes the next segment. He is Jim Lampley or any of the generic ESPN talking heads with a sideshow act. Does say a title fight have a sense of importance because Larry Merchant or Michael Buffer are there, no, the big fight, game or series have it on their own (or league promotion). Jim McKay, James Brown, Bob Costas, even Al Michaels or others definitely do help set a stage, but Chris Berman is a low rent version of George Michaels (Sports Machine) without any semblance of a real understanding of any sport he covers, just a loud tired carnival barker.

Could he just be another jock sniffer who has been around long enough that his age and longevity have given him credibility?

I read some of the Youtube comments. It looks like this hasn't been up that long based on the time of the first comment.

ESPN is gonna get word of this and make Youtube take it off.

I second that, actually. I don't like him doing baseball or golf, he's out of his element, but I grew up loving him on Primetime and I still like him on the NFL.

This clip was hilarious but it doesn't do anything to my opinion of him. He blew up--everybody has moments like that...might have had a long day, been in a bad mood--may be he's a perfectionist who has to have everything just right. I empathize...

Not only that but he was right to go nuts. People were moving in front of him as he's doing a read on live TV.

Just saw this now..

I expected a little more vulgarity out of him. What a pansy.

yeah, i really don't think he flew off the handle that badly at all. When i worked for a small media outlet here in NW Indiana my boss went off WAY more than Berman did here - and over smaller shit.

Berman's just a schtick guy. It's not about knowledge of the game with Berman. He's dated-reference nicknames and noises -- that's all he is. There's no substance to his routine. It's a tired act.
He's not a great storyteller or picture-painter.
That's why I'll take guys like Costas and McKay over Berman any day. They don't have to use funny sayings or sounds to get their point across.
John Madden got caught into this trap a few years ago. I've liked his stuff lately, because he's went back to bringing some analysis into a situation. He's not just relying on his sounds.
Berman seems like an egomaniac. He's got to be there at the big events.
Give me SVP and his Adult Swim sweatshirt.

Totally agree.

Also, I don't know if it was already mentioned, but this is from 2000.

I didn't see Chris on Sunday?
Is he sick?
Maybe he was too sad after the loss, and he didn't want to show his face.
