I don't know if I would put smelt fishing in the top 20...

Smelt Fishing used to be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, most of the smelt aren't coming in to the harbors anymore so that defeats the purpose of driking all night with a net in the water.

I've done 13 of 18. I don't think Aurora basketball or Joliet Catholic football should be musts for Chicago sports fans.

I would have agreed with you, but last year's Joliet Catholic/Mt. Carmel game was one of the best HS football I've seen in quite some time.

I find it odd that none of the following made the list of what a Chicago Sports Fan must do:

Go to and watch a Bears game, Sox game, Cubs game, Bulls game, Blackhawks game....

Visit the Jordan statue? Play wiffle ball in a parking lot that was formerly a falling down stadium? Be a ballhawk chasing HR balls in the streets outside of Wrigley? Go out of the way to watch high school sports where a relative isn't involved? Feel the 'atmosphere' at a football game involving at least one underachieving team playing in a joke of a stadium?

Hopefully this writer is a victim of the Sun-Times budget ax.

Here's a more realistic Top 10 list, in no particular order:

1. Throw ice at the father of a player who went to a rival school instead of yours.

2. Steal the cap off a former player of your favorite team and get in a fight with him.

3. Charge the mound and attack your closer.

4. Attack the opposing teams 1st base coach.

5. Write racial hate notes to the manager/head coach.

6. Throw garbage on the field.

7. Piss on the people's lawns outside of the stadium.

8. Know nothing about the sport you are watching, just go to the game to get drunk.

9. Don't show up to your team's games until the year after they win a championship.

10. Sexually harass every female that walks by.

1.

Go fuck yourself...

Of course, I only say this because I want to see how someone does that...the plain old "spanky, spanky" has lost it's luster... :?

Why is this Sun-Times article that has nothing to do with MJH posted in the MJH section? (Sorry - did I just steal somebody's job?)

1. You and your best friend get bleacher tickets to a cubs game, show up 5 hours before the game and drink as many beers as possible at the Dark Horse (ask for Joe DeRosa, not because he will give you anything free, just because he may be there) until 3 hours before the game, then stumble over to Sluggers, take batting practice, laugh when your friend breaks his thumb after getting hit by an 85 mph pitch, stumble into wrigley, find a bathroom and puke, go buy four more beers, stumble up to the bleachers, yell at everyone not wearing cubs gear, ask the first hot chick you see to show you her boobs, ask the second hot chick you see to show you her boobs, run as fast as you fucking can out of wrigley field while her boyfriend chases after you, go back to the Dark Horse, order more beer and watch the game.

Experience a Notre Dame football weekend

Wtf?

I think this list should have included going to a Red Sox-Yankees games and attending a Motor City Bowl also.

My dream Chicago weekend:
Visit the St. Louis arch. See Lincoln's Tomb. Go to summerfest in Milwaukee. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I agree. It should be replaced with Snipe hunting.

Only 7 out of 20 for me.
But I'm not a native Chicagoan.

Though I would say
watching the sunrise
over Lake Michigan
from the bike paths
should be question #21.

My Friends,
If Chicago Sports fans substituted beating up Chet Coppock for Smelt Fishing I think we would have a winner. Who can resist taking a shot at that guy?

This list is completely retarded.

I'm surprised 16-inch softball hasn't caught on more around the country.
