It seems crazy to me, that whatever union issues must be covered with on air talent winds up getting in the way of a normal broadcast day. Can't the union meet with the guys before or after their regular shift? That would seem to be a reasonable thing to do. Not to metion, a better way to go about it, for the listeners.

Apparently they tried to change the time but the union people or arbitrators couldn't start till ten and they said it could last as long as 6 hours, so no MJH today.

I think this is above and beyond a 'union meeting'.

This is a union grievance with lawyers and arbitrators involved.

I hope HUGE'S LAWER is there!

But in all honesty guys, this sounds like as much fun as a root canal...good luck.

I'm going to put two and two together and make five here. This involves Mac and Harry, but not Jurko. Thus, one might speculate that this has to do with a grievance filed related to last summer's suspensions. The grievance process has led to this arbitration hearing. Arbitrators are third party professional "judges" who don't work for the radio station or the union. These arbitrators/"judges" work business hours and have heavy case loads. Do you guys get to pick what time you go to court? Neither does Mac, Harry or station management.

I figured it was over the Mac and Harry spat, or over Mac's suspension and how that was handled last June.

Nor have we shoved co-workers and told a person to kiss our sacks at work and have had a history of suspensions and still get to keep our jobs either. But I see where your coming from .

I have a policy never to go to court until a bench warrant is issued.

I think Mac has proven that he's a pretty loyal employee to ESPN1000 - and equally as loyal to guys that came over with him from the Belmont graveyard (Finji and JD). This loyalty was exhibited by Mac NOT jumping ship back to the Score during his last negotiation.

However, the 'Mickey Mouse' rules of ESPN1000 are starting to impact Mac's on-air persona, perception and performance - and I believe the Spring/Summer of 2010 can't come quick enough for a Dangerous Dan McNeil.

This is just my viewpoint too btw... I have absolutley zero insight.

...but his statement that Carmen Defalco is going to be his successor this week was thown out there on the air for a reason, and it is duly noted.

Not as good as the Gridiron Assassin saying "I've got a little Beef Rockmore in me". That was a Dwight Howard dunk.

Really? I missed that announcement. That doesn't do it for me, but I've been wrong and in the minority before on opinions about hosts. Carm seems like a nice guy, albeit too contentious at times for my taste. I just don't quite share the love for his supposed knowledge yet. I try not to confuse strong opinions with accurate ones. But I used to feel that way about JD too, and he is growing on me and getting to be an almost decent listen. The more years we spend on the planet the more we tend to know and the more we learn how to moderate our anger and arrogance of youth. Hopefully, the same will happen with Carm.

If there is a knock on Carmen to me, its that he is what 31, yet he acts like he's 61. He has absolutely no kind of pop culture-ness to him. He sounds like an old man in a young man's body.

Homerun, Coast.

Take out the "I" and that should be a subheader under "All Information is alleged and 100% Unreliable"

We get use to the retreads in sportsradio here in Chicago and its hard for young talent to get a shot in this town.I mean Mac, North, Boers, Bernstein , Murph, Chet, Hood, ect have been around forever and we give these guys the benefit of the doubt and get into a comfort zone and seem to chide the young talent for being just that..YOUNG.I don't know if its their age or the views they have on teams in Chicago but I'm always looking for a new fresh perspective on sports-talk and I think I get that from Carm and the other young guys in town but it seems there has to be a death or vacation , floods , earthquakes for them to get a good time slot or be a fill in on other shows.

Chicago is a very fickle town and as a city we don't like change and we seem to give a lot of rope to people who don't really deserve it and there are few hosts in Chicago who should thank their lucky stars they live in city who wrap their arms around something and don't like to let go.I anit saying , I'm just saying.

Is it true that Dan and Boers' contract come up at the same time?

Let the bidding war begin if that is true.

Heavy Fuel Crew. Best show ever on Chicago sports radio.

Apparently, there must be some rule in the Arbitrators' Union which states that no Arbritrator works before 10 AM local time, and that they must clock in 6 hours every meeting.

WAS...Terry has mailed it in. Listening to B&B is awful radio. Perhaps the worst radio on the air, period.

Far from the 'worst' radio on the air, but you can tell he's lost the passion... and the fire. But who doesn't 'burn out' after more than 15 years at a job? Taking all those 'dope' caller's phone calls has to wear a man down.

I do find it interesting how Bernsie is virtually lobotomized - and a completely different person - when filling in for Dan Patrick. He's actually civil and respectful to the callers. Intriguing! ;)
