Post subject: | Manniversary Song contest |
Here is my ineligible contribution. It's to Man of Constant Sorrow from Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Here is the song, keep the volume low. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifdgrfr0 ... re=related I would have done something like W_Z but I'm not going to put in the time and effort for something I can't win. Here are my lyrics. I am a woman of constant sorrow I listen to MJH 3-6 every weekday. I can’t go to the Manniversary Because I have no penis [chorus](Because she has no penis) For six long years I've been shutout No golfing or betting on horses for me For in this world I'm bound to play bunco And attend tastefully simple parties [chorus] tastefully simple parties It’s for you, men I never expected to be allowed For I’m bound to be on the outside looking in Perhaps I’ll post recipes on cooking for a crowd [chorus]Perhaps I’ll post recipes on cooking for a crowd You can bury your balls in some deep sand trap And putt from the rough where your ball may lay Consider it pay back For acting like a man that lives in a cave [chorus] For acting like a man that lives in a cave Maybe you guys think I’m just a bimbo I won’t darken your events no more But there is one promise that is given I am woman, you’ll hear me roar. [chorus] I am woman, you’ll hear me roar. |

Pretty good Spaulding. Maybe Randy Merkin can enter it as his own effort. Is there a theme on the parody song contest or is it a free for all? |

+1, anyone know? Time limit, subject matter? I haven't been able to listen but from 430-6 since the new gig, so I haven't heard anything about parody songs. I'll listen to your tune when I get home, Spaulding. We play 'constant sorrow' so I'm interested to see what you did with it. |

has to be funny... end of the month or sooner... It's Raining Men or the Monty Python song "Men, men. men..." would seem appropriate. |

Here was my entry. To the tune of James Blunt's "You had a bad day". Where is the moment when we need it the most You rake up the leaves and take out the trash You hope it gets better some day The daily grind eventually goes away And you just need to carry on You sit in traffic and move very slow You walk into work and your morale is low You count down the minutes until quitting time You're wasting away on the company dime And you just need to carry on [*Start Here For 1 minute*] Because you need a man day Send the womenfolk away You need a cigar and a scotch You need some sports to watch You need to bond with a guy You call in sick and kiss the wife goodbye You need a man day You head to the course You hit the first tee and light up a stogie You start off your round with a triple bogey You need a man day Well you need a man holliday The men won't whine or complain And they won't be carrying on You need a man day Your drinking one down You swing the golf club and tear up the ground You say you hate golf You had a bad lie You sip on your beer and go for a ride You need a man day No women, no way You're a little tipsy and you really don't mind You need a man day (Oh.. holliday..) Sometimes your shot goes in the drink And your choice of club turns out all wrong You might miss your putt and swear at the ball There is no way it would break that way And go that long So where is the joy when you need it the most Oh me and my guys You kick up your feet and propose a toast 'Cause you had a man day You drank a few beers You had a few cheers You found your happy place No women invading your space You got away from your trouble if only for a day You had a man day You've hung out with Mac, Jurko and Harry And had a great time You had a man day You had a man day Had a man day Had a man day |

Mine is probably too long. I also have no musical talent so I just sent it in so I probably am ineligible because it's not in audio format. Oh well. |

well, i've been thinking of a few ideas but will not be posting them for all to steal! |

Well, it looks as if they want them sent in recorded like I thought. I am no where near talented enough to do something like that so if anyone wants to take my lyrics, improve them how they want, and submit it I have no problem with that. Otherwise, they'll just go to waste but maybe that's the most humane thing to do. |

Rick, you should at least request that you be included in the foursome if the song happened to win. |

I would never ask to be involved in a foursome without knowing the participants. It could end up being very uncomfortable the next morning. |

would need a few word changes just to make it fit but could work... If you want to give it a try it's yours. I'm sure that it could be improved. You can take it and run with it. |

Well Rick, I think it's great. I don't know the lyrics to the actual song well enough to know how well yours fit, but as Terry would say during WYC, you hit the essence. |
