What do you all MJH fans think?? I think he would be a huge upgrade from the Tirico trainwreck. I enjoyed his time at WGN years ago, plus he is a class guy. I met him many times years ago. Comments??

yep...he said as much. the mouse requires they have a certain amount of national hours per week. as a matter of fact, I believe Justin said that Chicago has one of least amount of national programming for an ESPN station.

I used to catch Swirsk on his radio show whe I travelled to Canada for business. He was solid; not spectacular. A local voice in the time slot though would beat the rotating cast of charachters we get now :)

Will Johnny B get the real thing to do sports on his show when Swirsk gets back in town?

I'm in Dallas for a few more months due to work, the local affiliate here ditched Tirico late last year giving Michael Irvin (which is god awful) the 11-2 slot. In doing so they gave up 9-12 of local for 9-11 of Cowherd. Morn drive is still M&M and 2-6 is local. 1000 would have to take on more national somewhere else if Tirico were to be dropped…cant see Waddle and Silvy going anywhere right now.

It would be interesting to see Swirsky go head to head against Murph from 12 to 2. I wonder how many listeners would switch over to AM 1000 -- if any.

Swirsky was a little bit before my time, but he was not some beloved radio personality. He came from the Chet Coppack era of sports radio which has thankfully passed to the great beyond.

Bring it on......

Image we need to have the local voice heard over the lunch hour.

Now now dolphin, I'm 33 and can remember the Swirsk from his WGN days. I actually find Kaplan a better listen. I think it's the nasally voice for Swirsk that gets me. Well, that and the geeky look.

IIRC he used to do a show from a bar called Buffoons on Sunday nights on the Loop. I think that was the early 80s...

He is geeky looking, but I think Grobstein is the undisputed champ in that category.
