Does Mac and Yurko really need Harry? Does any show need three guys? Harry brings nothing to the show. His voice is whiny and irritating. Once a month he might say something funny.

That's pretty Harsh. Harry provides Dan and Jurko with someone to ridicule for one. His over the top enthusiasm is something that you either Hate or enjoy. I'm sure many if not most listeners, find some of it disingenuous, but I believe he is just a very Loyal fan of all Chicago teams, who finds hope for them all. Mac and Jurko are more capable of rational assessment of teams. But if every voice is the same, it might get a little dull. You need someone to be a bit different. The best shows, are when guys have a strong argument about anything. A discussion where both sides have strong statisyical data and theories to back up their positions. When all of the guys agree on something up for discussion, it's not real thought provoking. Plus, while Harry may tend to tell the same jokes over time, he comes up with some impromptu lines that can be pretty funny. He's better than once a week. I believe he is anyway. But I understand, there are a number of people who feel as you do. It seems as if that sentiment has been growing somewhat. However, I have to voice a differing opinion.

Does this topic need to come up every two weeks? We get it there is a portion (relatively large or loud) of the audience that doesn't like him.

Since the show is called "Mac, 'Y'urko, and Harry," The answer is yes.

I am with Steve on this topic.
Maybe in the Welcome Section Bigfan could add topics previously discussed 83,632 times and that was the new guy can read the old posts, as our opinions of Harry probably haven't changed, no matter what side of the fence you are on.....

Absolutely. In fact all three need to be there for the show to succeed. I feel if the show is missing a third of the team, the entertainment value is cut in half. No matter who it is that's off.
As far as Harry specifically, one thing I like about him from a pure sports talk point of view, is that he seems to have the highest knowledge.
But luckily this show is a lot more than sports talk. And I feel Harry brings a lot to the success.

Break out the Hendrix drop. Don't confuse planting your big ass in the family's seats or in front of the tele and remembering the results of a game.... with knowing the game. I like Harry, but highest knowledge of the game....oy vey!

As Barbie said, "Math is hard!!!" I was making a point that if one of the three is gone, quality and entertainment decreases at a higher percentage. If someone's missing, I'm usually off to FM or the mp3 player.
As far as being out of my mind, well....

The only area where Harry has the highest knowledge, is where to get free drinks.

C'mon, what kind of question is this?

Didn't Moe Howard and Larry Fine need Joe Besser?

Unquestionably, that would be six rings for MJ. I'm sure other people didn't like it either to some degree.

Right, Charles??!?!?  Patrick??

Certainly.

Well one thing you have to understand is, that a booth can be very important to how a ballgame is enjoyed. Harry is no longer with us, so I don't know why the question would be "do we really need Harry?" but in a generalization position, we do need Harry's on the microphone to allow a baseball game to breathe the air of energy that sometimes it needs. When I broadcast, I have a different approach, but it is no less great than what Harry did in his time.

I will never lead "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in the seventh inning stretch; but Harry nor any Harry's out there ever know what the second baseman is thinking when the shift is on, or what his assignment could be in a base stealing situation.

It's all about perspective.

Kid Cairo, my mother, and certainly my brothers and sisters, so they are here through me, but they are not Michael Jordan. They, along with myself, say thank you for taking me in and showing me the respect and certainly the gratitude that you have shown me over the years and that I expect to receive not as just myself but, quite naturally, as Michael Jordan.

Ahhh, there it is. I retract my criticism in the Bulls forum.
