Mac, when you or the other guys start to go down an uncomfortable road, let 'em go. Like you , I love the pull the head up over the covers topics.

You have a tendency to either say things and leave us hanging or Harry or Jurko will say something that peaks our interest and you cut them off and reel it in.Give yourselves rope to hang yourselfs at times. It becomes tiresome when you cut each other off and leave the listeners hanging when it comes to off topic stuff. You seemed concerned people will punch the button , well fuck'em let them. You have a HUGE core group you leave hanging sometimes when you reel it in.

I know you have saved Harry's ass a number of times when he's going down a bumpy road ,like when he accused Waddle of doing something out of the ordinary.I love dat shit.

Take this post under advisement .

I'll try:

Mac,
Say some more crap that will get you suspended.
And when Jurko & Harry are saying stuff that will get them suspended, let it happen. Makes for good radio, and gives us something to post on CSFMB

YOU speak my language Rob. You might want to have yourself evaluated by a mental health professional .

My point is if your going to go off topic and start a conversation and they go down a dangerous road then why bring it up? Harry was going to hang himself and Mac stepped in. Let Harry get a day or two off . He's a brown nose Mac, you hate him.

It wouldn't just be Harry who would spend time in the penalty box. I have a dump button. Finji has a dump button. If one of us doesn't dump questionable comments, we also would serve time in the box. There is a precedent.

Someday we'll be on satellite and not have to worry about all this.

Depends if it is Disney-owned satellite content

I believe they were talking about "serious" episodes of sitcoms and which one started the trend. Harry brought up a "very special" "All In The Family" where Edith was nearly raped. Jurko started doing a Edith voice saying something like "Oh Archie No. Not now. Archie!"

It was pretty funny, but Mac did the right thing by derailing it.

You guys take AM extra-testicular radio to the limit though...

Bad post!! If the guys get suspended, then we are gonna have to listen to a 2nd rate show, rather than MJH. NOOOOOO!! I tune into MJH to listen to what I consider the best sports talker in Chicago. If I want to listen to 2nd rate, I'll listen to the Score. If they have to curb their tongue's once in a while, that's better than getting 2 days in the penalty box, where they go by themselves and feel shame....Bad idea.

Steve , most of what I say and do here is tongue and cheek and seeing that your new here and were not around when the board was jumping when Mac and Harry were suspended more than Steve Howe. I seem to be a guy here who gets people thinking and get this thread jumping with thoughts and ideas and solid opinions about a great show.I have become disappointed with how the show has been handcuffed by the Disney douchebags on topics and what they can say. The word ASS is on the "DO NOT SAY" list for christ sakes.

Radio in general has become pussified by all the rules and hand slapping of on air talent. Mac's days at the Score were some of the best work he has done because he worked without a net and free to be himself and all I was doing was asking him to push the envelope with his partners and get back to the sophomoric radio I have come to love.

Do I want to see anyone suspended? No , I don't ....But don't leave us hanging when they go down a road I would like to see more traveled.

Just curious as I don't listen to anything but music on my Satellite radio but do Satellite channels do "local" programming like that? How do you market a local sports show to a national audience?

Iwould imagine that, since Satellite Radio is the equivelent of Satellite TV/Cable TV, that in the not too far off future there may be local channels available on Satellite radio, just like there are on Satellite/Cable TV (like CLTV and Comcast Sports Net Chicago, which aren't available everywhere).

It just seems to me that jumping to satellite, while freeing up the boys from the rules of the FCC, would dramatically reduce the number of listeners. There just aren't nearly as many listeners on Sat as there are on terrestrial. I think it is a gawdawful idea to want to move local sports programming to the sat. Maybe if it were a national audiance, but not this show. Silly idea.

Well, there was a time cable had a much smaller audience. IIRC, now about 80% of homes have cable or satellite dishes. Mac always talks about terrestrial (sp?) radio dying. Maybe soon (within the next decade or so) most radio, if not all radio, will be satellite.

Yeah 80% of homes have cable, but there is still over the air, free TV. Millions of people may get satellite radio, but there will still be a handful of channels that are free-- if nothing else for traffic and news.

Probably, but who knows. I very much enjoy most of the local shows on ESPN1000, but I wouldn't pay to hear them.

Oh shit, I now agree with Frank twice in one day. Is this the symptom of medical condition.

If I didn't make the switch for Stern, I probably would not do it for sportstalk. The one thing about local sportstalk that will make it semi impervious to satellite is that there are several million people in this city with an opinion equally as valid as the people manning the mics. At least a few of them should be able to string sentences together without using "um" and do it in an entertaining fashion.

Now if you had Stern and MJ (no H) under the same brand, that might be something to consider.

Before I pose this question, I'll go ahead and admit total ignorance, but...

don't you think one day the FCC may broaden their jurisdiction to satellite broadcasts sent/received within the U.S., thus negating any of the wild-west profanity-playground notions people are throwing around? just cause stern's doing it now doesn't necessarily mean that MJH in the year 2015 will be able to do it.

We have had these discussions before about local shows on satellite, and I think there are a few things to consider.

If MJH or any sports talk show were on sat radio, they likely would do a different show with a more national appeal. Don't assume the MJH you hear now would be the same MJH show if it were on satellite. They are proven entertainers who have proven repeatedly they can draw an audience. And I think they could be just as entertaining if they were talking 95% national sports as they are today talking 90% Chicago sports.

However, don't also assume that the national sat radio you hear today is always going to be national only. Let's not forget that MJH brings about 30k listeners a day. How many of those listeners ultimately go to satellite is unknown, but there are many stations on XM and Sirius today that don't bring anywhere near 30k listeners.

So my take is that they could conceivably be successful on satellite with either a national show or a local one.

I agree. But regardless of how successful they may or may not be on satellite, I'm not going to pay for MJH-- regardless of if they talk local or nat'l sports.

You and some like you Frank will say they will never pay for radio. That's fine. But many of us do buy it and will buy it in the future. You will be in the minority 10 years from now, if not sooner. And whether you are part of it or not, radio programmers will be offering product for those of us who want to pay for it.

Nah, probably not. Honestly if I don't have MJH, the Sox, or a local ESPN1000 show on, its music-- and not from the FM dial. MJH is a treat to listen to most days, but I'd survive with my MP3 player just the same.
