I know this is gonna be a major topic tomorrow-The Hawks and The Detroit Red Wings will play outdoors at Wrigley Field in January 2009!!!! That is gonna be a blast! Just think about the history there too. Now the Cub's, Sox,Chicago Cardinals, The Sting(soccer)The Bears and Hawks, will all have played games at the shrine. How cool is that Harry?

It's one thing seeing Harry stumble around Wrigleyville during baseball season.

It's gonna be fun for people to watch him in January. He's gonna get so loaded. I predict he slips on ice right outside of Bernie's.

Harry - (Calls Mac on his cell) Heeeee!!!! Mac, Harry here. I fell down. Blew out my knee. Can't do the show tomorrow.

Mac - Jeez Harry!! You going to the hospital?

Harry - No. Bars are still open. I'll numb the pain that way. Heeeee. How cool is that? Blackhawks at Wrigley!!!!!

How do you think they'll set up the rink?

Have one net on the 3rd or 1st base side? The other at home plate? That way you have one whole side with a great view.

Or they could have one net at home plate and the other at 2nd base. That way both sides of Wrigley have a decent view.

For what it is worth, the proposed config at Yankee Stadium was one net at the plate and the other in the outfield. Either way, if temp seating could be employed just about anything would work.

Steve might of been drinking some of Grandpa's old cough medicine. I checked the Hawks website and nothing has been announced and the rumor was the NY.Rangers would get the last game at Yankee stadium in 2009 against Montreal as the only outdoor game in 2009.

Might be a little misguided scuttlebutt on Steve's part.

I saw Mr. Woo-woo at the Cell on Friday night outside the park dancing to some band in lot D. Very weird.

If this game does take place it will be the toughest ticket in a long while. As I told Stink, if this does take place New Year's day which is the rumor, it will be a mess in Wrigleville.A bunch of drunks pulling all nighters and then beers and bars after the game. Glad I quit drinking because I would be a mess for 2 days.

Cup Champs vs. HAWKS will be sweet .

I'm not sure if this will be the case here also, but if this game is on January 1st then the NHL is dumb. Even with the dilution of New Year's Day bowl games in college football, it still is one of the best college football days of the year. Last year, I didn't even remember that this thing was on and missed it. It looked cool on highlights, but I can think of many other days that this would be much better.

I assume they would let Hawk season ticket holders first crack, followed by Wings then the general public?

The hockey game had huge numbers that day Rick and despite going up against some Big bowl games the NHL deemed it a huge success and will look to repeat itself. If the Red Wings win it all Im sure the NHL will want to showcase this game to a New- Years day audience and the lure of Wrigley will be bigger than the game itself.

I have no problem with a New-Years day game. The only appealling game on Jan 1 is the Rose Bowl and that's a late game of the day.You have a hung-over captive audience on Jan 1 and Im sure the Hawks will cash in big that day.

That still leave 35,000 seats open to the public.

Relative to other hockey games, it did great ratings, but it should. This was a brand new experiment and had lots of curiosity. It earned a 2.6 rating.
The Capital One Bowl drew a 9.13 and the Rose Bowl drew a 11.11 rating.

It's easy to consider your 2.6 rating huge in comparison to the 1.0 that hockey was drawing at that point but it wasn't a huge number in comparison.

My guess is that if this game was played on the first Saturday of the new year starting January 2nd that it would get much more interest.

It was a great marketing job by the NHL, but having it on a day where they compete with some of the biggest sporting events of the year is a mistake in my opinion.

Given that I'd still like to go to Wrigley field, this will be the perfect opportunity for those Sox fans that don't hate the Cubs, to attend Wrigley field and not root against the Cubbies. This is a hockey ticket I would seriously think about punching a nun in the face to get.

Go Wings!

I know you were half kidding but Sox fan/Cubs hater arent synonymous, as much as Frank would have you believe otherwise. I'll definitely be trying to get a ticket.

I'm all for it but that's really going to test that Roger Bossard field.

I'd hope that they wait for the weekend (Jan 3rd) to have the game (I'd be more inclined to go that day than New Year's Day). It'll be interesting to see how much they mark up the tickets for this game.

Hmm..Will Stink come out and say this is the wrong section, or since this is a high traffic area and his favorite sport is being bantered will he compromise and swallow his proverbial whistle?
