As listening to this strange precinct called "sport talks radio", I am always amused to notice the ANTI-futebol venom(nossa, I HATE to call this beautiful world game "soccer".....) that is spit by most of the talk show hosts--an active campaign to ignore "o jogo bonito" (the beautiful game).
As there WAS a time in USA when futebol could have made an impact, this time has sad sad , flown...
I hear all the cliché reasons why futebol is not reported in the news journals (the Tribune gives 3-4 sentences of vague recap each day, and the Sun Times now not fit even to wrap fishbones in....)-- and outside Jurkoviç, the game ignored or ridiculed if discussed at all.
All I say really, another 4 years has arrived, and magical moments in the World Game
I agree Andres Markovitz, the majority USian does not like futebol because 1) USA did not INVENT it --- and 2) the USA just is NO GOOD at it!
So on and on the same bla bla bla , beating certain topics into the ground, when at least just a BIT of talks/ coverage of futebol in general, and especially important moments as the Copa Mundial and EuroCopa cannot be asking too much.
As always, USA is a country of immigrants, built BY immigrants at great cost of time, leisure and life (I see the eyes rolling, who built the railways, the canals, the roads, who digs the coal, etc.etc...)
Hey, even if it is only a soup bone, why not take a step and throw it to us, a little coverage and respect for a game we all feel same way as USians feel for their "futebol américano". !
oh, and.....Forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzza Azzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzurrri! (the Italian cheer!)
