It was not my idea, but here it is. I will leave it up for Mac to see if anything gets asked or answered.

Pappy, two of your hand picked staff (Anne & Buch) left the show, no matter what you say, your ratings were awful, but yet, you never blamed yourself once for a bad product, why?

Mike, how much of a bump do you really think billboard advertising would have given your lifeless show? Explain why.

How could you not beat Mike & Mike in this town? A town that loves it's sports teams and want to hear local sports talk?

You claimed, on Comcast, that you had nothing to do with the big Score break ups. Mac, you say otherwise. Who is a liar?

After Buchman left, why did you promote Jen Patterson instead of hiring an experienced Executive Producer?

Who did you turn to for creative ideas concerning show content? Given the Real Estate Game, your reading of box scores, and the need to play Bookie Priest to death and beyond, it seems you should have asked other people for ideas.

After Anne Maxfield was fired, why didn't you hire an experienced (and voice-trained) news anchor - or even have Fred handling the news? Instead you gave the job to Jen Patterson. Was this a cost-cutting move?

Your daily e-mail reads - how many were plants?

I believe the Score took in $23 million in revenue. Please quantify the amount you were directly responsible for.

Mike North,

You mention the fans who liked you on your website. However, whether you want to admit it or not, there is a significant amount of people who strongly disliked your morning show. Many of the "chat board people" (as you would call them) were among those who disliked your show. Again, whether you want to admit it or not, writing those people off is not exactly responsible.

Having said that, it is the understanding of most of us on the board that you had control over your show, and that management could only give you input, but did not have much authority. Regardless if that is correct or not, regardless of what you say, there had to be disappointment at the station that you were beat by Mike & Mike in most books. You could have improved your show several times. There are hardly any people that would think that Anne Maxfield was a good idea. There was a time when you were encouraged to audition other co-hosts, including Matt Abbatocola. After that four week period, you arrogantly said on the air that it was your call and you were keeping things the way they were (oh gosh you are such a fn' tool). Why were you so arrogant and refuse to improve your show?

You griped once that Jerry Krause was stealing money from The Score when he was the "Bulls Expert." Well sir, I think you were stealing money from the same company, for your lack of willing to admit that the show was not working as it was intended and that much of that fault lies on you. For once, instead of spinning things, own up that you are at fault here you fucking piece of shit tool. You were always a tough interviewer... if you were to be interviewed by someone as tough as your standards, you wouldn't survive.

I'm not sure if Mac is going to ask North real questions... I would guess not, otherwise, I don't think North would go on the once rival station. However, these are questions that should be directed at him, and he should not be allowed to bullshit out of them. I'm not saying that Mac is the one that has to be the one to question him. It's Mac's show and Mac has every right to allow him to come out, as a friendly gesture, and let him say goodbye to his fans. I prefer the tough questions, but that's not for me to decide.

Mike

Why do you believe that almost everyone on these message boards did not like you or your show?

How do you explain the high percentage of this happeneing here versus the high percentage of emails, comments and people that you claim really liked what you did?

I appreciate the suggestions. Here's a preview:

I will ask him about the struggle for creative control... "respect"... losing to a national show in a provincial town... drifting, so regularly, away from sports... whether he had a hand in the restructring of the Score in '99... what his plans are.

Behind the scenes employees are not of major interest to a majority of listeners and will not be discussed. No offense, but the message boards and his war with Teddy G also will be skipped.

I knew this thread would get no mention on air. Mac is doing the right thing though by not bringing this place up, and preventing a possible lawsuit ;)

An aside, Mac- it seems as though all 3 of you have at least a civil relationship with Mike off the air. Is this true?

Make sure to ask the follow-up question: What "creative" things did management impose that hindered his success? What things did Mike originate that, in hindsight, weren't that good?

Mac, don't know if you caught him on with Kaplan on Comcast last night but Northy claims he had nothing to do with he and Jiggs splitting up. He claims he did not want to go solo, that was a decision by management. If I recall correctly, didn't you say that he was the reason the Monsters split up? I really hope you call him on this on the air today.

Why don't you just come out and tell us that North is my pal, on my show, and I am going to do everything in my control to make him look good? It's your prerogative and I'd respect it. The pile of feces you have been growing here on the subject really cuts into the image you are trying to build here. Stop acting like a politician in a pre-election year.

Dearest Pappy,

1.How do you discount "those internet people", and trashing anything internet related while at the same time you have been plugging your website northtonorth.com (which is on THE SAME internet as this website) for about a decade?

2. Do you now have time to get you're high school diploma?

3. How long will YOUR sponsors wait around for you to get back on air?

4. Why did you consider yourself to be bigger than the station? (Cue Dean Martin's Kick In The Head)

5. Do you still have to pay dues into the Piss and Moan Commitee even though you have NO forum to P&M?

Mike,
What are your real thoughts on Dan Bernstein? I once heard you say on air that "I like Dan Bernstein. Other people have told me not to like him, but I do." Who are some of these people?

For example, if you had a thought during the morning and a caller expressed the same thought during the afternoon on their show (i.e. Dick Jauron should have stayed coach of The Bears), the caller would then be classified as dumb and meatball, which I always viewed as a subtle shot at you.

Now that you don't have to toe the company line, what are your real thoughts?

Big day for you Mac! You gonna come up large?

If you can maybe you can ask why he said he was going out on top when he consistently lost to the only demo that counts and that is the OTHER sports station. A station in the morning that just hits hard with its Chicago sports talk from Connecticut?!?

Your demo you'll say is 23 - 54 blah blah blah but when you pay a guy millions and he consistently loses to to a show from Connecticut then something is wrong. Mulley and Handley will destroy ESPin's morning duo. When that happens, what will his excuse be?

Maybe you should ask him that one too.

You should be able to answer that question yourself.

don't even bother to think that I'll be listening to your shitfest, just have enough tissue around to wipe off your chin when you are done blowing him. You don't have enough guts to ask hard questions and follow up questions to North. Maybe you can ask North for negotiating tips on your next deal.

Post subject:  Re: ASK NORTHY

Mac, I would agree that the engineer and associate producers could be "off-limits" for this interview. But we're talking about the Executive Producer's spot. They went from a big hire to promoting Jen. That goes directly to creative issues, and prompts questions as to why Jen apparently had so much influence on this show.

Also, a few more suggestions:

1. An e-mail was posted to northtonorth.com, allegedly from Teddy Greenstein. Teddy denied sending this e-mail and it was then pulled from your page. Did this incident have anything to do with CBS pulling its offer? [Mac, this seems relevant and allows you to avoid their conflict as a whole.]

2. After your "induction" to the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame (or whatever that was), you had Mac on your show. Was this an attempt on your part to extend an olive branch to Mac? Why did you feel it necessary to reach out to Mac seeing you played a significant role in driving him down the dial?

3. Do you still have a relationship with Jiggets, and how would you characterize it? How was your relationship after the break-up of Monsters?

4. If your replacements score higher ratings than you, what will you attribute their success to?
