I really don't understand the need to get Griffy at this point and where do you play him ? He's a bit old and slow to play center and Mac, I know Kenny has been wooing him for 3 or 4 years but there are many other holes to fill other than bringing in Griffy and the only player I want out of Chicago is Kornerko at this point and Griffy does not fill that void. Bullpen and or a starter would of made more sense. |

That post is the very definition of a tease. Stay tuned at ESPN1000 until 2PM to discover your answer. Speaking for all White Sox fans, I sincerely hope this is the first move of another trade or two to set up our run to the World Series. If not, it doesn't make much sense - other than we have a DH for next year, as Thome has an option year. Then again, Thome is hitting at a pretty good clip the last several weeks. |

They can still address the pitching staff, especially if they just bought Griffey without giving up a meaningful prospect, which is probably the case. Griffey in CF does bring up concerns - can he stay healthy, for one. He's also batting just .246 (did hit .270ish in July) on the season so he's seems to be just another HR hitter for the lineup without bringing much else. Konerko isn't going anywhere - he is owed $12 million a year for the next 2 seasons after this one. |

There's been talk of Orlando Cabrera being dealt also..... I'd be OK with this - although the guy has impressive numbers, you really wonder about him in the clubhouse (when he's not calling up the official scorer). I'd just hate to see Anderson or Dewayne Wise off the roster - I'm a fan of both of them this year. Truth be told, the youngsters have been carrying this team this year: Danks, Floyd, Quentin and Ramirez. Where would the Sox be without them this year? Answer? See last year's record. Other than AJ, Dye and as of late Thome and Buerhle... the other players have been sporadic at best. |

Well.... what a bottleneck of left handed base cloggers. Thome this year: .256 average .500 slugging percentage .385 OBP 19 HR 59 RBI 94 SO 65 BoB Griffey this year: .245 average .432 slugging percentage .395 OBP 15 HR 53 RBI 64 SO 61 Bob They're just about the same age, so the only thing that sets one apart from the other is in bold above - and the fact that Junior can play a corner outfield position, but would be a liability in CF. I'll wait until today's over to determine whether or not Kenny Williams DAY of trades has been positive or negative. |

Unless Konerko's going on the D.L. this was a stupid trade. Completely stupid. Now what are they going to do, try to leverage one guy against the other (Griffey / Thome) to see who takes the buyout and then resigns with them for a couple more years. I just don't understand what Kenny Williams is doing. |

For the rest of this year, the trade doesn't bother me....They basically added another HR hitter to the lineup in place of a guy (Konerko) who wasn't producing. If Griffey looks/plays like he's done, he won't be back. |

I really have no idea what kind of CF Jr. can play, but it can't be great if we wasn't even playing there. |

His defense is definitely a concern, but I do expect the Sox to replace him late in games, and also think the Sox will rest/DH him at times. |
