Oh NOOOO!!! The Sox have dropped down into 2nd place. The pitching staff has an ERA over 6 over the last 19 games. The bullpen has been bad, the better starters are even performing poorly of late. All the while, the Cubs sweep the Brewers and then take another series against the Buc's. They now lead the division by 5 games. It's just got to be frustrating to be a 2nd place Sox fan. Oh, and i KNOW this is the wrong section on the board. I just don't care. The Sux dropping into 2nd place WILL BE a topic for discussion today, no doubt, as will the Cubs and their latest winning series. |

Cubs fans disavow all knowledge of Elmhurst Steve. He does not represent the Cubs, nor their fans. Please do not allow the words of one deranged freak to influence your opinion of all Cubs fans. That is all. |

Okay, Steve.... I'll play along. The meatball bacteria have made their way to Elmhurst. I'm stunned. Congrats on the series win over the Pirates, Steve. It was frustrating, as a Sox fan, watching my team lose to one of the worst teams in baseball while the Cubs just blitzed one of the best. The Sox, now a half-game back, on Aug. 4, are reduced to preparing for the off-season now. Meanwhile, the Cubs, on Aug. 4, are a mere five outs away from their first WS appearance since '45. Nothing can preclude a team from hoisting the pennant with five outs to go, could it? Zambrano will self-destruct in the end. And he won't win 20. Soriano's defense will cost the Cubs at least one meaningful game. My crystal ball also sees Derrek Lee grounding into rally-killing double plays in crunch time. The goat will walk again this fall. But... don't let any of us Sox fans get in the way of the celebration of a title won with more 50 games to go. |

It is the sort of post that I try and rip Sox fan's on and give them shit about having an inferiority complex. As a life-long Cubs fan...I know we have little to brag about other than our undying allegiance to our favorite team. |

I guess it is a good thing for Elmhurst Steve and the Cubs that the trophies are handed out on August 4. |

trying to "out-stupid" a stupid post is a dangerous game, because if the stupid response fails, as this one did, the stupid response sounds stupider then the original stupid post, and we are all stupider for it. |

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. |

After watching the Sox crap the bed the last few weeks I can't take it anymore. And like Ned Braden in "Slapshot" said "The aint going to goon it up for Ozzie anymore either". Bats down , gloves off they challenged the Royals. |

Steve, why don't you wait to see how the season plays out before pounding your chest. I'm a die-hard Cubs fan as well, but I also realize there are a lot of games to be played. I'm happy the Sox fell to second, but that could all change by tomorrow night. |

When all is said and done, the White Sox will stand atop the AL Central. Why no mention of the Twins 14 consecutive road games, then 6 home games, then 14 consecutive road games? 6 home games out of 30 total? Toe tag those Twinkies!!! See you in mid-October Steve - don't miss the party! I've already annointed the Cubs the NL Champs - so I hope they don't let me down. NOBODY can stop them. Hell, Bernie Mac jinxed them in the NLCS by not singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" correctly. The Cubs are now in first place and he's on his death bed. Oh my... how the plot twists and turns.... He who laughs last... laughs last. |

Actually, I think most of us judge the standings by the column that says "GB" - therefore, the Sox are now the proud owners of 2nd place in one of the worst divisions in the MLB! |

Steve is like school on Sunday- no class. He starts a thread like this in hopes of getting his name mentioned on air, and had all but dissapeared from here during the latter half of July when the Cubs were scuffling a bit. What a true fan you are, Steve. Bleeding that Cubbie blue....every time the Sox do bad that is. |

Quote: The Sox, now a half-game back, on Aug. 4, are reduced to preparing for the off-season now. If they keep playing the way they are, it would be smart of them to do so. Their pitching is awful, the traded a long guy for a washed up OF'er and then Ozzie is whining he needs another arm, sounds like to me that the GM and Manager are not on the same page. White Sox are playing like a old and tired team, they could still sneak in, I just dont think so. I wont go steves route, but I wouldnt go Macs either, talk baseball, not the same old and stupid insults cub and sox fans have been trading for years. Quote: Zambrano will self-destruct in the end. And he won't win 20. Soriano's defense will cost the Cubs at least one meaningful game. My crystal ball also sees Derrek Lee grounding into rally-killing double plays in crunch time. Swami-mac, can you at least give us some winning lottery numbers, instead of hoping the worse for the Cubs ? Any true Cub fan knows that could happen, this one, is hoping not. I will wait to judge this team once the season is over. Cubs havent won crap yet this year, but I like the team and the way they are playing and the talent they have, this is a team that could win it all, anyone who says otherwise is a meatball fan or just a hater. |

Quote: So let me get this straight. You can judge the Sox but anyone who judges the cubs is a meatball or a hater? No, I didnt use the word judge, nor was I judgin. Macs comments, as Steve's were, looked very meatball and hater like, it makes both teams fan base look silly. Steve is just being Steve, just like Ozzie being Ozzie Macs comments were just dumb, no subtance to his comments in my opinion, but it was clear he was hating on the Cubs, which I see a lot here and after awhile, it just gets boring. Facts are that the white sox are playing like a old and slow team, they made a trade of Griffey 10 years to late and their pitching staff is still short a arm, those are facts, not judging. |

I dont think Zambrano will 20 either and it doesnt matter, because he should win 18 or so, thats fine, Sorianos defense? Yea, his hop is dumb, but his bat will make up for any shortcomings in LF and DP-Lee, well yea, he has hit into 28 DP's, but I will take him over the 210 hitting Konerko or the 230 hitting Swisher and this is coming from someone who has been harder on D-Lee then anyone on this board. Quote: The goat will walk again this fall. I thought you didnt like the goat talk? Either way, stupid to use it as a excuse or bring it up in a lame attempt to be funny. Nothing personal Mac and I really try to stay out of this cub vs sox crap, but I guess the molson ice tonight must be making me a bit pissy about it. |
